I just realized yesterday I picked the wrong factions to be my favorites. Custodes and Grey Knights, especially GKs, have a horrible selection. I've printed off a Stormbird and a Mastadon, but can't use them for either.

Yeah some factions don't have access to some of the toys the imperium as a whole gets their mits on.

Though the example of the custodes is unfair. They have a list of toys that is exclusive to them. Sure no mastadon, but you can air drop in a dread with the Orion if you wish.

I feel your pain. Back in 7th edition my wife got me a Stormtalon as a gift, but the three marine factions I play, at the time, couldn't use it. (GK, Space Wolves, Dark Angels). It sat around unused until I traded 3 halves of the 8th starter box to do a Primaris Ultramarine force. My other bits and bobs that slipped in were a WWI tank that got converted into a Terminus Ultra, The Imperial Space Marine, and a 3rd party Roubute Guilliman.

1) Now you just have an excuse to start a force that can use them.
And they cost enough pts that you won't need to invest very much into that force.

2) Wait patiently. In 3, maybe 4, months 10e arrives.
Who knows what mix of stuff will be possible?
2a) Ask your opponent if they mind if you use them. Who knows, maybe....

3) If you feel you need to part with it? Well, I've always wanted a Mastadon.....

I've read books where a Custodes force uses a Stormbird so it didn't cross my mind. I just figured GW was too lazy to make everything current. LIke the "small" squiggoth is shown on FW to have a cannon you have to buy separately but it isn't listed.

I'll think about selling it. I'm currently moving so my 3D printing has to take a break and I think I still have a couple of pieces to print for it. Working on printing a Warmaster. AWESOME!

Edit: No mastadon for the Vlka Fenryka nor Black Templars. Love wolves (though I'd paint them grey and yellow) and my family came from Danzig, which was part of the Teutonic Order. Ugh!

The GKs should be similar to the Custodes in terms of equipment uniqueness.

GK did have unique units from FW. Psybacks, special dreadnoughts etc But all of that was removed to balance them out in 8th ed. But at least in return we got the option to use a thunder hawk, in what I assume have to be those 5000pts games that people play.

Are you planning to do some serious siege breaking? or dioramas?

Those units were removed because FW was cutting down on SKUs.

Vortimer Razorbacks weren't any issue balance-wise.

Would you mind posting a link? Looked but couldn't find it. Is this where decal sheets are hidden? I look on FW and see an Astreus tank (which I have as well but don't know how to paint it) with scorpions on it that are too perfect to be painted. Would love a GK decal sheet.

Would you mind posting a link? Looked but couldn't find it. Is this where decal sheets are hidden? I look on FW and see an Astreus tank (which I have as well but don't know how to paint it) with scorpions on it that are too perfect to be painted. Would love a GK decal sheet.

40k Legends. In terms of decals, your best it is either hunting around for some of the old FW sheets which can be pretty pricey now, or finding a 3rd-party supplier.
