Looking at the new Gondor terrain I'm really tempted to pick it up for 40k (et al). The ruins in particular look modular and could be a good replacement for the Cities of Death (RIP).

https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Middle-earth?N=1777647504+3785754234&Nr=AND%28sku.siteId%3AUS_gw%2Cproduct.locale%3Aen_US_gw%29&Nrs=collection%28%29%2Frecord%5Bproduct.startDate+%3C%3D+1680439800000+and+product.endDate+%3E%3D+1680439800000%5D

Anyone tried it out?

I'm moving this summer so it would have to wait until after that, but it is tempting.

I just wish they sold the modular sprue on its own.

Middle Earth models are usually a bit smaller proportionally, it might look a bit janky.

Yeah, that's a concern considering Lord of the Rings models are 25mm scale were smaller even without 20 years of Warhammer scale creep. From the last Warhammer Community article a few days ago:

You can see a Gondorian soldier right next to the tower's door. I think that one is leaning forward, so it's a bit misleading. But a new Cadian might just pass through that door without ducking. So if your standard is previous metal Guardsmen and normal sized modern plastic humans (Genestealer DNA optional), the buildings might work decently well. Perhaps the windows and balcony wall are a little low, though.

Worst case scenario, the buildings can be used for the Ratling district.

The thing about 40k terrain is that it's scaled to look good even with huge Marine models next to it. That is something you will definitely lose with the Gondor terrain. It's strictly built with normal humans in mind. Transhumans need not apply.

Otoh that would enchance the heroininess of marines. They appear giants.

In aos that's why i like mixing cities of sigmar and stormcast. The size difference enchances super natural strenth of stormcast while humans appear more humans.

Too bad new cos likely ruins effect

Good advice thanks. My main models would be Stargrave, 2nd edition IG and such so the height issue is not that big.

Still since this won't be for a while I may wait for someone else to try it.

That does look like a fun kit though.

Right up HBMC's alley?

If Stargrave models are the same size as Frostgrave models, I don't think you should have any scale issues at all. Same with 2nd ed Guard. My metal Cadians would feel right at home in those buildings.

I founnd that mounting buildings on a base the same thickness as your miniature bases helps a lot.

I bought some 3D printed 28mm houses and they looked a smidge small with a lot of my models.
But raising them up did wonders to mitigate the perception of models seeming too big:

So yeah, you could probably get these to match your 40K table a lot easier than you may think.
