Hey guys

Bit of an odd question, but I started writing the lore behind my splintered lance of knights while bored, and I got thinking.

Did Dominus-class knights exist in the Heresy Era?

They don't have rules in the current iteration of Heresy, but they did in HHv1 (I know rules aren't lore)

They don't appear in any of the heresy material I have found, but obviously the knight material refers to them with same level of reverence as the Cerastus knights, which are prolific in that time.

So, I was looking for a bit of a concensus, alongside some HH-era material around Questoris knights if it exists

Thanks Dakka

While i can't find a source that says they definitely existed in the HH, they are noted for being rare in the current timeline because their STC templates have been lost in the meantime. That strongly implies that they're ancient, and as such should have been present during the heresy.

If I remember correctly, knights are build after ancient STCs and are themselves very old constructs, some still predating the founding of the imperium. I would therefore assume that dominus knights must exist during the heresy, but weren't as common. My personal guess is that they are done drawbacks over the more common designs during the heresy, that were mitigated/less of a concern later.

There's no reason to say they didn't but I think FW wanted to keep the whole "Special Big Knights" to be Cerastus.

Thanks guys

That was the argument I was having with myself, but I could've sworn there should be some material supporting that logic somewhere
