Time to vote for next month’s topic. This poll will run for 2 days, and the new competition will start on the 1st. We had a tie for second last month, so I’m giving the spot on this poll to “Fluffy” as it’s more universal then “Bean Counter” which was more in tune for Tax Day. It will go back on the list for consideration for future topics. In related news, “In the Deep and Dark” is getting its second chance this month, as it was another tie for 2nd entry. Thanks again for all who suggested topics. We can only have a few up every month, the extras go onto the list, I’m not ignoring them.

Fluffy! Easter bunnies, dire wolves, lions, tigers, and bears. Or the ermine lining of a royal coat, warm lining of a winter hood, or a trophy pelt worn across the shoulder. Let’s practice painting some fur.

In the Deep and Dark: Whether it's stalwart dwarves holding their tunnels against encroaching goblins, or genestealers prowling through the dark corridors of an abandoned Space Hulk, some warriors do their best work in cramped, dingry conditions. Your entry should feature models known for their aptitude in clasutrophobic interior or underground spaces, where every corner holds a new threat.

Mistakes Were Made: Many times people are in a bad situation, often due to their own poor choices. They made a bad call, signed up for the wrong job, read the map wrong and ended up at wrong battlefield. Really Very Regrettable Life Choices. Your entry should be in the wrong place, at the wrong time, or otherwise in over their head in trouble.

All Seeing, All Knowing: There are those that know all, and can peer into corners of reality beyond the ken of normal people. Psykers, wizards, seers, scryers, masterminds. Or the steely gaze of a sergeant or commisar who notices every detail of his unit. Artillery spotters, scouts and recon units. Your entry should be focused on observations and the knowledge that it brings.

Mostly, on my phone.

Mistakes were made, I think, works for the corrupted, mutated members of the Takobake clan. Works for Deep-dark too, though.

I voted Fluffy, but honestly I could probably make Lion El'jonson fit any of these with the right mental gymnastics.
Fluffy: He wears a lion pelt.
Deep and Dark: He was sleeping in a secret room deep within The Rock for 10,000 years
Mistakes Were Made: He left Luther unattended, and we saw how that one went...
All Seeing, All Knowing: He is a very skilled tactician, and almost became Warmaster instead of Horus, so he probably fits this one too.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Let’s be honest, no mater what the poll ended up being, you were going to paint him anyway.

Lion...Finds a way.

I can't believe you pushed Bean Counter back. Like, you didn't even hand in the correct forms. Or get a stamp of approval. This is anarchy, I tell you!

Luckily that leaves... four choices for which I equally have no idea what to do. In the spirit of doing my democratic duty I voted for Fluffy because a D4 told me so. Now I have to go and find something fluffy. Or not, depending on how the vote goes.

I voted for All Seeing, All Knowing, but as always I think I can find something for any of these themes.

Now showing Catachan Jungle Fighters and World War zombies!

Painting total as of 12/31/2024: 107 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers and a quad mech and five giants

Ideally Deep and Dark would win, because I just finished chaosifying the store anniversary Squat and haven't started painting yet, but I voted Mistakes Were Made because I can't resist the comedy option. I don't have anything specific in mind for it yet, but it shouldn't be difficult to find somebody in a Slaaneshi warband who's made choices you or I wouldn't necessarily call wise.

I think Slaanesh’s entire existence is because mistakes were made…

Unless I (heh) made a mistake, it looks like next month is going to be a comedy of errors.

I’m not going to tell you to let the tequila choose your entry for you, but I’m pretty sure it’s the official beverage of “Mistakes Were Made”

Still a bit of time before we get painting, but start gathering ideas and parts.

Assuming ‘Mistakes were made’ is likely to be the theme for next month….can I ask… does this have to be a single mini or are dioramas classed as an entry?

I’m struggling to come up with a single mini idea…

Hi

This is normally how it goes (certain topics in the past have allowed up to 10 e.g. if "swarm" had won as a topic)

How To Enter

- You may enter up to 5 MODELS as a SINGLE ENTRY, and are permitted one entry per member per month. If you enter multiple models, they should ideally be related in some way, such as part of the same squad, unit or scene if you are doing a diorama
- You may enter at any time during the month, up to the last minute. We do encourage people to enter early, as to be part of the community, but if you can’t start until the 11th hour, that’s OK.
- You MUST post a 'proof' picture of your entry in the thread of the state it was in before you started working on it; this must be either unassembled, unpainted, primed or coated a single colour. Entries that do not submit a valid Proof Picture will not be eligible for voting.
- After this, you may post WIP pictures in this thread and your own if you wish, and on completing the entry, you may post up to 6 final pictures IN THIS THREAD that will then be used for voting. Please note that pictures in a montage or collage picture will be considered individual images for this purpose, so while these types of presentation are certainly acceptable, please keep the image limit in mind when compiling them. For example, a collage of 5 images and one separate image would count as your 6 picture allowance.

Subject vote polls generally run for 2 days, so this should be closed with a winner.
(The final vote for the winner should run for 5 days)
((Assuming I set things up correctly))

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, any entry of 1-5 models is acceptable. Which doesn’t count bases, display boards, etc. Unless you want to count them. Bases with more than one model are also fuzzy. If you wanted to enter 5 bases, each with 5x6mm infantry, that would be OK. We just don’t want someone speedpainting a whole army and wowing their way to the top. Trying to keep it a little fair, balanced, and reasonable.

Periodically we will remove the model count for the month, if we want to encourage hordes or purging the Pile of Shame. But I’ll let you know if that’s going to happen.

Edit:
And ninja’d. Thanks Midget Gems.

So "Mistakes Were Made" is the winner? If so, I actually have the perfect model for a change!
