Hi Everyone,

Im new to this forum. Been picking up my exacto knife for the last few months and have been working on some conversions.
Wanted to build a kill team with genestealers and warriors. Massively inspired by all the creations I found on the web of the last 2 decades I got to work.
There are some insane designs out there by people that made conversions and sketches. Robert Cirillo's desings that we all know and love are just breath-taking.

Being relatively new to the hobby I started with the Genestealers. While they are quite small and fiddly, I noticed I enjoy cutting up these little critters and posting them in a more dynamic way.
The genestealers have always been such a great creature design and I wanted to do the lore justice by trying my hand at giving them a bit more love then the mono pose models.
These original models have such potential.

Here are the WIP shots of the 5 Genestealer I have been working on.

Big Claw:

This Genetealer possesses a formidable, brutish body encased in a powerful exoskeleton, capable of swift movements and Incredible speed.

However, its most striking feature lies in its left arm, once ordinary, now swollen and muscular, it dwarfs its counterpart in both size and power.

The fingers, contorted and twisted by the force of rapid mutation, have merged into a singular, claw-like weapon, capable to rend the sturdiest of armor and cleave bodies in twain with each savage strike.

Ancient Genestealer Brute:

An ancient and savage Genestealer, weathered by time. Its massive frame, adorned with broad shoulders and strong exoskeleton. Its elongated and brutish body, sinewy and powerful, bore the marks of countless battles and survival. Large upper arms, terminated by sharp, formidable rending claws.
Still more of a WIP when it comes to pose. But the ribcage that I cut away is turned upside down and it's made to have a bigger build then the other genestealers in the team. Bigger is better.

Not sure what to do with the pose. Can be standing or running.

Tentacle Horror:

This Genestealer possesses a fearsome form, with its upper arms terminating in razor-sharp rending claws, poised to slash through any obstacle in its path. But it is the lower arms of this creature that reveal a grotesque transformation, morphing into writhing and serpentine tentacles. These eerie appendages slither with an uncanny grace, capable of ensnaring and immobilizing unsuspecting prey. The lethal combination of rending claws and tentacles grants the Genestealer unparalleled versatility, allowing it to strike from a distance or engage in close-quarter combat with equal ferocity. This hybrid anatomy embodies the dark and twisted nature of the Genestealers abilities.
Reading about the genestealers being able to morph their arms into claws or tentacles , I set to work. Massive inspiration from Robert Cirillo's sketches.
Making tentacals on wire with greenstuff was not fun. Next time I'll make the wire straight and bend it after. Lol.

SpeedyGhost:

The Genestealer possesses a lithe and agile body, built for swift and deadly attacks. Its upper arms culminate in wicked rending claws, honed to slice through flesh and armor with terrifying efficiency. This creature is a master of speed, darting and lunging with lightning-fast reflexes, leaving little time for its prey to react. Its streamlined physique and lethal claws make it a formidable opponent, striking fear into the hearts of those who dare to face it.
First test taking the genestealer frame apart. (please do not swear) it, cutting all them joints up to reassemble them later. More dynamic pose. More upright. Enjoyed making a first attemt at sculpting the belly and the neck. Also gave him a little more amor on the tip and sculpted the exo-skeleton to have a bit more umpf.
This little fellow is build for speed and fast attack.

[/

HeavySwift:

This Genestealer possesses a formidable and imposing physique, with a strong and tall body built for swift and heavy assaults. Its upper arms extend into elongated appendages, terminating in razor-sharp rending claws that can tear through flesh and armor with ease. With lightning-fast speed, it launches devastating attacks, combining its strength and agility to overpower its adversaries. The Genestealer's powerful build grants it the ability to deliver punishing blows, leaving destruction in its wake.

This design was heavily inspired by the sketches of Robert Cirillo's work. The way he depicts the genestealer design is just out of this world. Wish he would make make. Wish I could do the concept justice though. I feel the designs he puts on paper are hard to replicate with the genestealer from the box. Even when I cut up all the joints and repose the hole body. Haha, maybe a hole new sculpt in greenstuff is needed.
Extensive alterations where made to the body and arms. Claws were cut up, extended, altered and put backtogether. Upping my sculpting skills.

Wooo these are fun and crispy! Well done on the greenstuff, do you have formal artistic training?

If you are new here, I can recommend to use forum (upload Image) tools here for the images, it is much easier, cleaner, and you can edit, and organize your images by projects and themes. A
Also people can vote on the images that you pick.

Sry, do not use Instagram, but Welcome to the Dakka!

@Mothsniper,

Thank you for your kind words men! Been wanting to do some conversions and sculting on nids for years now and finally got the focus to do so.
I have been trying my utter best to get the sculping as clean as I can. These models are quite fiddly, but I think I got the most out of the first 4.

Im new here and not sure what the best way of posting is here. Thank so much for pointing out to me a better way.
Although im not sure how I would do what you have suggested.

Ive now just made a topic here and post pictures in them...
What is this way you speak of? Sorry im total noob here on DAKKA DAKKA.

Good day!

Always glad when people have time for hobby!
It is very hard for me to keep tiny sculpts smooth and crisp, so well done!

Image sharing, Its not an objectively a "better way" but more of a personal preference, your call.
What I meant is this:

Top left corner of the forums go to - Gallery

Then go to - Upload Your Wargaming Images

Then pick your files, select ranges of random or grouped, and upload

It will take you to page where you assign a gallery, tags, name, description, ownership, and enable or disable community voting for each image here.

After that when you go to see uploaded images, on the right of your page you will see all (galleries) you have created. Personally I like this system, keeps all pictures organized by project or theme.

You can go to yours or anybody elses gallery by clicking (Gallery Images) under the avatar picture.

Hope this helps.
Can't want to see you your nids all painted up with nifty terrain bases

Hi Mothsniper,

Dude, Giving me a In-Depth guide how to do this, you sweetMfrr!

I have read the hole thing and I think I did all the steps on the gallery page. The images are almost up now. I think what Ill do is keep this topic open for some more WIP shots and progress and then also post them on the gallery.

This way its double work, and I like that

Thank you so much for pointing this out to me and giving me some (well needed) guidance.

Thank you also for your kind words, I cant wait for them to be based and painted (haha, ok I got to be honnest with you: when I work on so much sculpting, the gray and green look, the converted look, I love it... would be hard to do part with it. Especially with my (non exciting) painting skills... so often I see gorgeous scupts and conversion... later to be ruined by a paint job I do not like) haha.

See you soon, ill keep you up tp date!

Were these posted in a chronological order? There's certainly an appearance of refinement as I scrolled down. Each one seemed slightly more polished than the last. I like the idea you're going for. I imagine the highly mutative Tyranids would form some extreme aberrations as they age. These genestealers have been left in the field for far to long it seems!

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

@Mr Nobody,
Thank you so much for the kind words my guy!
They have been in the making for a few months now, painstakingly cutting them up and sculpting the mid sections back. They were done in about the order of posting.
Although the backs were all done in one sitting. I wanted to experiment with the different ways I could sculpt the carapace and the bony protrusions.

This hole undertaking is for me to see if I still got the skill of sculpting by hand. Haven't worked on this small of scale for a long time.
It is also meant for me to let go of some perfectionism... never happy with my work when finished.
So in the spirit of sculpting the backs, I started with the lightest armored one (speedyghost) after that I did the big claw dude, heavier armor, heavier frame.
Then came the tentacle horror, and my last experiment for the back was done on the heavy swift dude. (the one with the heavily modified arms and claws)

They are all different, but in the end I kind of like the slight difference in mutations of the carapaces.

Indeed they have been left too long disconnected from the main swarm. Too long the have have roaming the planes, forests and dark caves.

Thanks for looking men. Have a good day!
