So I just bought the Wolftime DOW book 4 on audible, and man is it a nightmare to follow. First off, the chapter on the display says chapter 4, and the book literally goes, "Chapter 3, X title, which was the previous chapter. So the displayed chapter is wrong. Then the book leaps all over the place narratively. I get switching between characters, but this jumps characters, then 400 years into the future, then a completely different character 400 years in the past, then the same character in a completely different setting, time, and place, and it's silly. I get the "I watched too much Tarantino" film style of Ending - Beginning - Middle structure, but that's not how books work, where you can't identify characters visually. All you have is a name, or sometimes just a setting, not even a name.

Is this how all the books are now in the DOW series, or is it just this one? Did I download it badly and need to delete and re-download? I am having trouble with the plot, because it's not spending enough time to make me care about anyone in the book, it's just madly jumping all over the place.

My understanding so far:

Spoiler:
There is an obvious dream sequence, wolf getting eaten by a giant ogre (obvious foreshadowing of the future plot) - But now it's 400 years in the future, and the Dark edgey Scary Chaos folks are attacking a pieceful but heavily armed Imperial guard planet, who are literally being sacrificed to die so that the SWs can ambush them PROPERLY. Now into a different time and place, but there are star ships, and a human slave is loading a macro cannon, and firing on another starship, which turns out to be orks, and he's knocked out. Slam cut to space wolves being all space wolfish with extremely bad russian accents, trying to be super macho, fighting orks. One guy really misses his Chapter master and abandons the attack to go back and make sure he's OK. Jump cut back to human slave, who is now a slave of the orks, which is somehow worse. All his friends are dead but he keeps their fingers? Back to Logan Grimnar, the chapter master of the SWs, plotting an attack on the Ork settlement, prior to the attack we were just shown. Jump back to first space wolf, who is having a terse conversation with Logan about how he should NOT do this. Jump BACK to the future, where he meets BACK up with Logar, and everything is fine. They finish the attack and attack the city of the orks. Jump cut to new character who is a run priest, (Librarian?) that notices how they've made a TERRIBLE mistake, and attack fails because "weird stuff happens". Now we jump cut to another time and place, where a woman wakes up drunk, with a hang over. JUMP CUT AGAIN, NOW there is a new Character who again is a nobody we care about, who is attacking Chaos people attacking a world we don't care about. The chaos are about to win, when Suddenly Bobby G jumps out of a plane, and does a superhero landing, kills all the Choas people. (Stopped listening here)

Am I out of order? Is there a beggining, a middle, or an End? Who are the Main characters, and why is this book so disjointed and out of order. Please don't make 40k into a GoT book, where every chapter we are introduced to several new and important characters who I can't possibly care less about.
