Can anyone recommend a tutorial or suggest a DIY idea for building your own artillery/field ordnance platform?

As an example, I'm thinking of something around this size:

I have some weapon bitz lying around that are approximately that size, and all they need is a platform really.

Toy army men cannons may have some utility.
I based my lascannons on such carriages. They were large at the time, but are probably exactly the size you need.

They are soft plastic, so clean well and prime with Krylon Fusion spray paints.

Toy Soldier company has them insanely overpriced at 14 each.

The come in and out of stock at Amazon periodically for a tiny fraction of that. If you can't find anything, look for 1/48 kits for howitzers, field guns and light artillery.

One more out-there idea. The turrets pictured here are "Final Faction AT-4" turrets from Dollar tree. Too tall, but perhaps could be cut down to make low quadriped gun carriages?

Price is certainly right

You're very welcome. To be clear the picture of the gun turrets isn't mine, but I have a few and they look to have lots of potential.

Good luck wherever way you end up going.

These look amazing, for either stripping down to the carriage or ork-ifying them:

Toy Essentials 12 Pcs Army Desert Cannons with Moving Wheels (4 inches)

I haven’t found these anywhere in stock, but maybe they’ll turn up eventually.

Those are the ones I bought but the ones you link to have better wheels that look more 40k. If they come in stock buy them and then please tell me so I can too!

I think they're the same ones that are linked above for $13 each.

The cannons snap right out and you can put another gun right in the same groove/trench.
