I only know enough to be dangerous with Necrons (and in 10th, probably not even that). However some new players are interest in taking my 2.5k ish points of neglected Crons and making a good 1k list out of them (and then later, more for larger games).

Our little club typically has Hive Tyrants, Chapter Masters, Warpsmiths, Reclusiarchs, Big Warbosses, and Phoenix Lords for warlords… so I’d like to point them towards a solid, competitive, and cool Necron warlord option that feels like it belongs the company of those mentioned prior.

Who do you think is the Necron HQ choice that walks with a little battlefield swagger in 10e?

Your two options for that kind of unit are the Skorpekh Lord and an Overlord equipped with a Voidscythe.

The Skorpekh Lord and the Skorpekh Destroyers he comes with is the more violent option; they'll slaughter any medium infantry they come across and are capable of punching above their profile due to lethal hits and devastating wounds.

The Overlord's voidscythe is high enough strength to kill anything - you want him in a unit of lychguard, either equipped with scythes and with Orikan or equipped with shields and with a technomancer. The full shieldguard lychstar is nigh unkillable, to the point it might be inappropriate for a 1k point game though.

A Skorpek Lord should be sufficient.
If that's not enough try Illuminor Szeres.

I usually go with Arachnofiend's Overlord/Orikan/Scytheguard loadout with 2 Cryptothralls included; 14 models, very tough to destroy.

Worked out well my last two games.
