Just found this interesting article regarding how a model's scale affects its appearance and color modulation:

I find this stuff very fascinating myself - thoughts?

Yep, it's all pretty standard stuff that is well known in the traditional art and historical miniatures hobbies. De-saturated colors and oil washes/filters are important tools if realism, rather than the GW catalog style, is your goal.

Now I'm thinking the scaling effects even go beyond colors, and even stuff such as glossiness control of the surfaces can be manipulated for a more realistic sense of scale. I've read some stuff regarding this, where people are hinting at flat/matt coats making smaller scale stuff looking more scale accurate..

There's so much more this this stuff than I ever realized growing up, that's for sure

Never understood why people think colors change the further you are away from them…

Look at a picture of a distant, tree covered mountain.

Pretty blue, right?

Do you actually think the trees on that mountain are blue? OR is it more likely to be a manifestation of the same phenomenon that makes the sky appear blue?

CHAOS! PANIC! DISORDER!
My job here is done.

Yeah, that's just a weird comment. I have to assume it's a typo and they meant to say "why people don't think ... "?
