Had some friends want to play some 6th edition Warhammer Fantasy. I still have my old collection of army books, and I think I have a book for every army. A couple I'm having a hard time determining just what edition the book is for and I was hoping someone could clarify. I've tried looking the answer up online, but that didn't help much. I tried putting in "6th edition orcs and goblins army book" for example and got images of both of my army books. Captions next to images said both were 6th edition, or both were 7th edition, or they were 6th/7th edition. Regardless, it wasn't very clear. For the attached photo, could someone let me know which army book for each of the three armies I should be using for 6th edition? Thanks.

The two Empire ones are both the same, the bottom one is just a later print run after they added the border to all the army books in the middle of the edition.

The top O&G one is 6th and the bottom is 7th.

The top Dwarf one is the original 6th Ed AB, released towards the start of the edition.

The bottom Dwarf one is their second 6th Ed book released towards the end of the edition that updated quite a lot of things.

The reprint of the Empire book may have some errata included, as most of the bordered reprints did this. The bottom O&G book is 7th, and both Dwarf books are technically 6th Edition, while there's a camp of people, myself included, who choose not to use the bordered Dwarf book.

Where is your group located? I have a rather small group of people playing 6th in my neck of the woods.

Looking for dice from the new AOS boxed set and Dark Imperium on the cheap. Let me know if you can help.

Thanks for the info! 6th edition was my favorite, and I used to play it all the time when it was the current edition ( I played Dark Elves and Chaos). It's just been so long since then I couldn't remember exactly which book was for which edition. I enjoyed building army lists though, and ended up picking up the army books for the armies I didn't play just so I could read the book and brainstorm army lists.

After looking into things more, I've heard similar things about the bordered Dwarf army book. I'm not quite sure yet how we'll proceed.

I live in the Houston area, and it's mostly a group of people I used to play with back when 6th edition was the current edition, and who just prefer that to later editions. A lot of us converted our old models to circle bases to try to use them for Age of Sigmar, so now we'll have to convert them back to square bases, and make some movement trays and whatnot before we can play 6th edition again. I just wanted to make sure I had the proper books before we bothered with all that.

For those curious, I believe this is the rest of the 6th edition army book set. As well as the old Path to Glory book, which we played the heck out of, and I *think* was 6th edition. If any of those army books are not 6th edition, please let me know. Like I said, my memory is a little fuzzy.

A: I always like to see someone playing an edition that you like rather than the current edition that you hate. Pity that I am not in Houston.

B: I like your choice of editions.

C: It looks like all of the other book in your second post look right to me. Not sure what Path to Glory is however.

D: I concur with Lord Zarkov and Just Tony on the books edition dates. The dwarves books are to taste. Some like the first and some like the second, I tend to like the first.

E: If you are interested in talking about all things WFB 6th edition, feel free to join us at Classic Hammer. Link is in my signature.

Hey, just wanted to check if you are up to date with the latest developments at GW - they will release "THe Old World" in the foreseeable future.

And it has been announced that base sizes are going to change, for example there will be no more 20 mil squares, they will be all on 25 mil.

So if you are planning on rebasing your whole armies, you might take that into consideration.

You could still play 6th E with larger bases, and at the same time play "The Old World" with your armies with the official base sizes.

Just a side note: You can probalby just play "The Old World" with any bases you personally prefer in your group as well. Just not in official tournaments I suppose.
