I am a newer player getting into 40k and have invested heavily into Dark Angels, but I am beginning to have second thoughts about them. Chaos Space Marines have always been in the back of my mind.

I like the aesthetic of both armies but maybe chaos space marines a bit more. Playstyles I like that the fact that both are versatile in different ways. I am not a meta-chaser, so power level isn't necessary. Lore-wise, I lean more towards the chaos side and all the different dark gods.

I guess one thing that is holding me up is that the space Marines and dark angels, specifically, are getting their codexes sooner. But on the other hand, there are rumors that true emperor's children will be getting their faction sometime this edition which has my all-time favorite unit, Noise Marines.

Again I am in a state of analysis paralysis and would like some advice and insight.

There's nothing that says you're only allowed to have 1 army.
So since you're already heavily invested in DA? Play those while building up a Chaos force.

And once you have two armies? Then you've got options.

A few bits of advice:

- If you plan to be invested into 40k long-term, you absolutely should get more than one army. If GW screws up your army in a way that it is no longer enjoyable, you are out of the hobby otherwise.
- That said, if you are a new player, chances are that you don't actually know what you are getting into with either army. Try to play a dozen games or so before picking up a second army. Anything else will just result in a mountain of sprues that feels crushing to build and paint.
- When Emperor's Children will be getting their codex, rest assured that your entire army will be invalidated and no longer be playable as it was before. Any but the most basic CSM units will get removed from the army. If you want to play CSM, you should probably go for another faction, even if it is slanesh-aligned and has a similar paint scheme. If you want to play EC, just wait for the codex and play your DA until then.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.
