If you add in army rules Asurmen has a chance to win the fight. Asurmen has 6 attacks of which 5 should hit. Using strand of fate you get one wound to be a six turning it into a devastating wound. The remaining 4 turn into 2.6 wounds which Abbadon saves half of. The 1.3 wounds turn into 4 wounds leaving Abbadon on 2 remaining. If the wound role has another devastating wound though you put Abbadon at essentially a 50/50 dice roll for living. A command point pushes the needle more in your favor though it marks a significant investment.
If Abbadon swings first though on average he will kill Asurmen. 8 attacks rerolling hits produces enough wounds to overwhelm the 3+ invul. The option for devastating wounds makes it very unlikely to survive even with the use strand of fate. Dark pacts only increase the chance.
Long story short though is that point for point Asurmen is better. Asurmen costs 120 to Abbadon’s 280. One on one, if you get to fight first there’s a reasonable chance of one shotting the despoiler with proper investment. Even as is, a good dice spike will give him the win.
Granted if you’re already using Eldar, chances are the rest of the army will mop the floor with CSM regardless.
