Last time I played Warhammer Fantasy* Margaret Thatcher was in power, so I thought it was time to rectify that and I started a 6th edition slow grow at my club.

First batch done. It should have been 500 points (with five knights adn 15 hablberdiers), but I had 10 knights and 30 halberdiers, so they got painated too, so around 800 points all up for the moment.

*I actually played my first intro game last night. Got tabled, but had fun seeing my lvl 1 wizard challenge and then kill a Hellknight before he was ridden down.

Thanks. And the game was a lot of fun. Trends in game mechanics have advanced quite a bit since 6th was released, but I was impressed at how smoothly the game went.... i mean, my only other touch stone was 3rd ed which wasn't exactly straightforward, but still.

Great project, glad you share it.
I recently looked through my old high elves and decided to try and give them a much needed boost to the paintjob. Now tempted to put some of the guys in a painting thread

I was Mikes opponent for that match (my own intro game to 6th Ed. as well). I'd just like to say that these photos do his army no justice. They are gorgeous up close and personal and the bases and movement trays give them a really nice cohesive feel.

Also, were it not for some less then great* rolling, the tabling would very much have been reversed. Those handgunners took a fearsome toll on the zombies and skeletons and the knights nearly wiped the zombies (and necromancer) out on the charge. Only the fact that I managed to roll well on the Invocation a few times saved me from falling apart early on.
I am very much looking forward to some future matches though!

I posted some pictures of our match here if you want to see them in action.

Re the rolling, high and low dice scores are just part of the game. And it did lead to some memorable moments. The cannon ball missing your Vampire by 2mm for a start. I learnt a lot. if we were to play again I'd move the knights up earlier to avoid the chance of them running off the board, and drop some halberdiers for some dispel scrolls. But we learn from our mistakes. The next game we'll have to play a scenario.

Love them. Old fashion miniatures are full of a very special charm in their design, and once well painted and based as yours are... pure amazement!

Got some reinforcements painted up. The forces of the Empire welcome some Pistoliers, artillery, and a big unit of spearmen.

The army as it stands:

I have another organgun/missile battery and some Greatswords ready to go, and also found someone willing to part with their Karfranz on Deathclaw and steamtank, so they will be joining us shortly.

Since my first battle above I've managed ot get another two games in, both against Tomb Kings. Got tabled (again) and the first, but the second was a close win (or loss, i was drinking that game) with the highlight of the organ gun shredding a bone giant in one round of shooting.
