A friend of mine has a Necron List which, while isn't unbeatable, is a very tough pill to swallow.

He mixes Necron Warriors with Overlord and Orikan. This means, that he gives the entire unit of 20 'Crons 4++, they restore d6 models each turn, they can restore d3+3 on objectives, it's triggered twice because of Overlord's Resurrection Orb and can target itself with Undying Legions for 0 CP, which triggers RP again. When I finally kill Orikan with my sniper cultists (CSM player), he restores him with Eternal Guardian. The whole ordeal costs 405pts.

Is there something I missed? Are the 'Crons that powerful? Is there an army to specifically counter that strat, because I'm actually ready to spend time to make a new specifically for this occasion?

dunno how practical this is, but that one unit can only sit on a single objective, maybe ignore it and grab others?

I mean thats a decent chunk of a 2k army right there.

seems if you want to knock that out you need to be able to do it quickly, when they come back from the dead they have to be 9" from you though right? so if you do kill them they are at least not on the objective if you splat them outright.

the 4++ is probably best countered by massed small arms fire S4/5 high volume of fire weapons, or high volume of melee attacks

have face necrons with death guard (pre-dataslate), and even with the resurrection tricks the warriors were not that hard to kill with decent rate of fire and were far from the most dangerous bits of the necron army

would be tempted though to look at where it is deployed, then essentially ignore it, with necrons its do enough to wipe them in a turn or don't bother

The new balance dataslate has changed how 0CP stuff works - so the regen strats are now harder to spam.

In general though, kill the weaker units and chase the mission points. Otherwise fully committing to killing the big units like warrior blobs in one turn is the only way to turn off their regeneration abilities - so make sure you have a high volume of shots and fighting units in charge range to make sure you get them all.

Yeah, one big blob of warriors can cover one objective well, but that's all it does. Ignore it. It's not going to hurt you most - go for the other objectives.

Necrons are tough though - but now that you can't 0CP Undying Legions, not as tough as they used to be (make sure your opponent knows that 0CP only works on Battle Tactic Stratagems now).

Not much can kil' 20 buffed warriors in 1 go though. If he has ghost ark he has 1 free and 1 cp res mid phase.

6 aggressors with bolter disclipine and oath can kill. Maybe 10 fully buffed scarab terminators(that's about 1000 pts...plus 2 stratagem and possibly cabal points).

10 death company, bounce off. 10 scarab terminator and magnus won't kill in melee(speaking from experience).

So frankly...ignore and score elsewhere is still the solution.

Btw face possibility they will happily charge you. They kill nothing, you don't kill them, stops you from shooting, scoring secondaries etc. Thats how i found out how useless scarab plus magnus is in melee vs them.

You need to kill reanimator and ghost ark to kill warriors. Too bad they tend to be behind ruins.

Charge this blob with some cheap distracting unit, so it cant shoot or do actions until end of the game and let it sit on one objective.
