I was recently contacted by a friend asking if I play kill team. He was hoping to get a playgroup together. The truth is I've read the rules and completed a speed painted DKOK team, but have never played a game so I got a little excited. Dakkadakka has always been one of my greatest sources of motivation so I'm starting this thread to ask rules questions, search for advice and just post progress in hopes of being motivated by cheap praise!

This is my first completed kill team. I speed painted them which I kind of regret but at least I slayed the grey. I'll take better pictures in the future.

This good boy right here is the first of my second kill team. After cleaning up some zenithal mishaps I decided to painted the simplest of the team to make sure that I would have at least 1 completed miniature before I stopped for the night.

I joined in today and had my first game of killteam. I brought terrain, and pulled pork sandwiches after seeing that were playing with graph paper. I played 1 game with my dkok vs tyranids. The nids slaughtered 70% of my veterans but the death korps are born to die in the name of the emperor & I wone 6-2!

Thanks ShadowsAndDust! Now I have to finish the commandos before the 2nd to play with my kill team club. I'll be posting progress pictures over the course of this week.

I'm still in the process of building the commando team but here is my progress so far. THe first 2 are primed, and the last 3 are not. I have given myself 10 days to build and paint this team, which of course is more than enough time, but I'm am a slow hobbyist.

Okay almost done with the building faze. Tomorrow after work I will finish the squig and the gretchen, load up the air brush and get them primed.

Looking good so far. KT is quite a neat game, at least as far as GW standards go.

We have a thread in the Specialist Games section too, although, surprisingly, it's not too active, especially considering how popular the game is.

I have primed the new team and have dry brushed white over the top of 11 of the 12 models. The bomb squig is going to need some putty work so I have set it aside for now. I own an air brush but often when I do the zenithal affect it over sprays so I'm experimenting with dry brushing with a makeup brush. Here is one example.

I got some painting in today but had to stop for the night because my old man back became sore from hunching my neck to see over my glasses. I really need to remember to take them off when I start painting. Any way this is how far I made it today. hopefully I can finish them tomorrow.

I found out tonight that it has nothing to do with my glasses. My back starts to hurt because my light source is low enough that I have to hunch to get a good view of the mini I'm painting so I had to stop for a second time during a speed painting session of a kill team. I feel weak... I hope my ancestors aren't watching. I'm so close to done. Well enough about my old man problems. here is my W.I.P.!

I basically have teeth, Jewelry, random details and clean up left, then I will show each one separately and then share with the Kill Team projects thread but for now here are 3 that are almost complete.

After a 3rd session I have the Orks of this kill team painted well enough to play them. I will base them soon but I want to finish the squig and grechin in order to complete all of the models from the Octarius box all at once. I just tested positive for covid today so I will clean my house more and spend more time finish kill teams rather than working which sounds nice but I sure am broke.
Here's where we are so far. I love these models so there is a good chance that I will go back and add to these paint jobs after I finish the grechin and squig, but this is the state that they will be in when they hit the battle field the first time. give or take a set or 2 of eyes getting painted.

The laspistol snapped off of my veteran which is good more than anything because it's pretty week, but more importantly it finally motivated me to try magnetizing the wrist. I've magnetized hive tyrant sized stuff but never something this small.

as you can see the magnets are the same width as the cuffs for the sleeves.

Is it just me or do genestealers look like they are trying to sneak up on someone to tickle them?

I am not to thrilled with these paint jobs, but the truth is I'm probably only going to do minor touch ups and then move on. These models are speed paints only. The blue and the red are from the army painter range and the purple is games-workshops Magos Purple.
On one had I think I've I had painted these the old school way they may have looked better... On the other hand this took me about an hour and a half. I had these tickle monsters finished by 7pm and still had time to go out to a dinner party and play pool with my friends, which is a very nice evening if you consider that my old method would have taken at least an hour if not more for each model which would have been my entire day off.
I have read that genestealer are good but that a full killteam is not great, so I would like to get some Warriors for this team but money is tight and I think we all know that sometimes building and painting a unit real quick can feel very rewarding.

When I assembled my bomb squig it didn't fit together well. I had a gap behind the jaw and the melta bomb didn't sit flush with the belly of the squig. So I had to bust out the old "green stuff". Filled the gaps on the jaw and then sculpted some straps to connect the bomb to the belly. With every project like this there is always a little putty left over, my favorite thing to do with the leftovers while working on orks is to make a little mushroom. I have 2 hours before the game at the store store so it's time to primer this little guy. here is my work so far.

I made it out to the local game store yesterday because I would like to learn how to play kill team by playing it with people who have more experience. I ended up being paired up with someone who had difficulty communicating but I was able to find a few very helpful people to help teach me as we played.
Before I went to the store I promised myself I was going to have the rest of the kill team finish as far as the paint job is concerned. This didn't seem like it would be that big of a deal because I'm using speed painting techniques and it was just one gretchen and a bomb squig, but I procrastinated a bit. So about an hour before I needed to leave for the game I primered the squig and got ready to paint. when I grabbed my bin that held my paint brushes I discovered that my plastic weld had leaked all over the brushes. I tried cleaning them but didn't feel satisfied with the outcome. In the end I was able to find a 2 suitable brushed and get to work. now finding myself severely short on time I scrambled to finish the to little guys and was pleasantly surprised that they came out pretty good. I did about 5 more minutes of painting on the quig when I got home, but mostly because I love the model and squigs in general.

I will admit that I didn't do the greatest job putting the squig together so I needed to fix some things with some milliput and of course there is always some left over. What's easy to sculpt and always looks good on an orky base? that's right mushrooms! Here is a picture from my squigs only fans so you can see the mushroom I sculpted and painted.
