Hi all, I'm fairly new to 40k and I've been offered an imperial fists army which looks to be an early edition. There are around 8 tanks, 2 dreadnoughts, 2 drop pods and around 130 figures. My question is are older imperial fists worth bothering with and does £120 sound a bit expensive? I would be extremely grateful if someone can help me out of this quandry

In my opinion £120 is a steal if everything pictured is included at that price.

GW is currently removing old marine units from its current (10th) edition of 40k, which may include some of the units in that lot. However, unless you are playing in tournaments with strict rules against model proxies, I don't see why you couldn't use what is included in a Space Marine army for general gaming, especially with older editions of 40k. The main issue you may run into are opponents saying your models are not on the "correct" base sizes. But again, for casual (i.e. fun) gaming in 40k, that would be a great lot if you like space marines.

(Personally, I like those older models a lot more than the larger "primaris" scale "miniatures" that GW is producing these days to replace those classic models).

Even if you don't end up using most of it £120 is a massively good deal seeing as a Land Raider will set you back £55 these days.
For a little over the price of two Land Raiders, you're getting a whole army.
