So, with the Forgeworld and GW sites proper being merged into one Chaos Spawn of dubious toughness and clarity.
It appears that Sevrin Loth and several of his fellows are going MTO this Saturday!

Is this the start for more Made to Order Forgeworld? Dastardly it is! "My wallet will never recover." we say.

What kits would you like to see come back as MTO with a reasonable price?**

**Vraks Renagades, Aquila Lander? Rocket Pod Sentinel upgrade? Elysian Valkyrie crew!!??

Honestly, since most of this stuff isn't game legal (outside of Legends) in 40k, I don't give two gaks. My wallet can rest easy, I suppose. I don't begrudge others getting stuff they want for their collections though.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2024: 40 | Total models painted in 2025: 25 | Current main painting project: Tomb Kings

If they did a MTO of the entire Elysian range my savings would take a battering!

Didn't have reasonable prices in regular production and MTO isn't going to make them any better, so whatever.

I have some of these, and don't want the others but old forgeworld stuff coming back MTO is exciting news.

Wishlist would include The salamader scout tank for the guard, tyberos the red wake, and a bunch of the dreadnoughts.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

Nice, I can buy FW Huron and cast multiple claws for Custodes!
There's so much stuff I'd like to see:
Imperial Fortress/Gate scenery.
Anphelion Base Project scenery.
Bits for Zone Mortalis (Xenos Dissection Table, Power Generator, Xenos Containment Tanks, small/large bulkheads)
Bloodthirster of Khorne
MK2 marines
Atlas Recovery vehicle
Sentinel Loader

And more...
Reaver Chainfist
Lucius Warhound
Zone Mortalis tiles

I'd love for a return of the old Death Guard upgrade kit though. GW don't like to make upgrades designed for OOP kits but the old Tac squad is still in production and the pre-2017 DG always looked right and correct with loyalist Mk 7 legs. I'd put them on some old Mk3 legs. There is a weird confusion with Nurgle the last 10 years, he went from the god of death, decay and entropy to being the god of death and renewal and corruption. Why does the god of death make vast gardens of life, albeit hostile ones to human life appear? Why do his minions seem more pulsing, envigorated with mutated life? Sure tetragens could be placed under "disease and corruption" as a theme but I miss when he was explicitly about death. The old FW DG were pure early to mid 2000s GW for me, the height of the background and art for me. Those DG could join the Andy Hoare codices and things like the Inquisitor RPG book as exemplifying it.

Wasn't the old explanation for nurglings and the GUO smiling because they thought they were putting everyone out of their misery through spreading fatal diseases? Now they seem more lively than daemons from the other gods who aren't the supposed gods of death and entropy.

Sure, there are some models I'd like to see back, but FW 'quality' on larger kits together with presumedly even higher prices would certainly stop me from buying them. Maybe some smaller kits, if the prices aren't too obscene.

IDK, maybe it's just me, but I either a) find FW product to be of top quality, b) have to some minor tinkering to do, but it's all in the lines of "working with FW resin", c) either get my money back or get replacements for free, make a perfect model, sell all the bad crap for 50-60% msrp and make my models cost way less
So I would gladly pay 300-500 euros for, say, Imperial Fortress Walls

Those Imperial Fortress Walls were sold for... some more (721 ₤, 937,50 €, 1189,50 $) - in 2014. And they wouldn't get cheaper now. Good luck with getting your money back with miscasts.

In the Dark Tongue, Nurgh means "Decay - the will to live, defy decay". (Hordes of Chaos, page 106)

I'd like them to deliver on the other MTOs that I'm still waiting on. The old imperial terrain (bastion etc) along with that Print on Demand Rogue Trader book, and the other 2-3 MTOs that have been out since then.

I don't get what's with these MTOs when GW can barely keep their normal stock levels even.

How about an MTO on the current War Dogs, Kasrkin, or other hot items? People would buy them even if they have to waith 6 months, you'd shoot scalpers in the foot, and people would finally be getting models that they need for their modern army, and not random genestealers from yesteryear.

These are products that will have already amortised their mould tooling and development costs, so the ebit is better.

Sprue production is likely not GW's only bottleneck, and there might well be times where there's some production capacity spare if you don't need manuals or boxes printing.

Also this thread is about FW, where by all accounts the main issue is a lack of warehouse space for stock rather than production capacity as such, so MTOs should really be a win/win there.

The three main really obvious sellers would be Elysians, Vraks renegades and the various Dreads - I suspect competing against the Contemptor plastics might be internally problematic, but for example the Noise Marine and Chaplain Dreadnoughts just seem like free money for GW. The FW Falcon and Wave Serpent variants also go for a bunch and are really just cosmetics, so they'd easily sell.

Elysians are really small, don't know if there are many people who pay much money for them. Renegades would be nice, especially the Ogryns. The main troops were an upgrade to the old Cadians, but also to the Catachans they still sell. Maybe...

Elysians were awesome. Kreig just got all the attention, with more commissars than Elysians had hq models. I'd love either MTO for some, or plastic kits. Enforcers just stole their tauros and made it into plastic, so it can be done.

Somewhere in Canada

Yeah, if they released Elysians in plastic with a Tauros, Tauros Venator, gravchute infantry and a plastic version of the Sky Talon upgrade it would be a license to print money.

And it prefer it coming to plastic rather than just being MTO resin.

So many kits that would be awesome to come back, when they originally came out I was a teenager so had no chance of affording them, and then a long hobby break came when most went OOP without me knowing.

Destroyer Tank Hunter
Earthshaker Carriage
All of the imperial Trailers
Hydra Flak Platform
Repressor
And far too much terrain to mention

Link to a 2006 catalogue for those interested in a walk down nostalgia lane, or for those who have never seen some of these kits: https://imgur.com/a/u8LE82l#GNeVeSL

Uuuh...Haven't been following GW past years? FYI there's huge supply issue GW has where they can't keep up with demand despite production at full speed.

Used to be for looooong time for example you couldn't start a gloomspite army due to stock issues...

Legions had basic marine infantry box out of sale(and think it's still in US).

GW can't keep up with demand as is.

Luckily FW MTO is separate so MTO there doesn't slow down plastic production that's already struggling to keep up.
