I have a wicked idea for a theme for my Necrons, they come from a Tomb World that once was a vast desert and Sahara when they were animated yet since millennia the world has become a flooded and swampy marshland. My idea is to give my necrons a 'spooky swamp theme' and make it look like they're rising out of the bayou like the undead or something. I could make them look all rusted and decayed and give them a grotesque muddy and slimy swamp vibe.

I am considering purchasing some plastic trees and shrugs, and perhaps getting little plastic alligators to connect to their bases.

I got the idea from this level in an ages old childhood videogame of mine, my idea is the world has very little sunlight they're on and thus it's mostly rainy and dreary to where the Necron's glowing gause weaponry illuminate the air around them:

Any ideas or suggestions? My idea is their Dynasty is emerging out the marshlands and swamp and while water doesn't affect necrons in lore it would be cool for an aesthetic.

Visually I think it could work really well. Warriors crawling out of pools of brackish water, hanging moss on the tall walkers. Swamp bases can look amazing. Lots of place to add some flavor to a model.

Instead of shiny, you got dull, but still have all the glowing eyes and guns to add some pop to the mini.

Good luck if you go this way, be sure to post pics.

This made me think of some necrons by Pomander.Cask over on Instagram (I believe he used to have a blog on Dakka but alas, not anymore)

I like the idea of them getting all overgrown. You could get definitely SWAMPIER than the above example. I think it could look really good with moss growing on them in patches, bits of plant starting to grow.

Also made me think of the Dead Marshes in the Lord of Rings movie - that’s got a nice colour palette with some ghostly blue-green glowing lights that would look cool

I love themed projects!
It might be nifty to have them overgrown with fugal growths. In the limited light environment things will glow close or near the source of light, ie, necron energy weapons.
Always wanted, but never played that game.

Id imagine something Lichen Crust necrons
