I've noticed recently that I tend to get deep striked by other factions while my Orks are in the WAAAGH! by turn two. Is there any good model that is good at a distance to help secure my poor little Gretchin who sit on the objective and harvest command points for me? Should I keep my Killa Kans behind the lines and have them poke at the enemy with their dakka?

If not, is there any other Ork model in particular that can keep my backyard safe?

You protect your backfield from Deep Striking units by screening the backfield. That means setup models in such a way that there is nowhere near your backfield where there isn't a model within 9" of a board edge or 18" of another model in front of it. That leaves no space for models to actually Deep Strike.

What is a good candidate for this job? More Gretchen are cheap. Do you like the idea of your opponent needing to spend valuable long-range shooting trying to kill Gretchen who are doing nothing other than screening your Gretchen on Objectives?

Alextroy isn't wrong, but Gretchin not being battleline limits you to 3 squads of them.
So you'll need some extra stuff to fill gaps.

3 things you should look for in such a gap filling unit:
●Cheap - you don't want to spend a point more than necessary just to eat up space.
(I play in an environment where using Legends is perfectly fine - 3 squads of Spindel Drones from the Unaligned list work wonderfully for this)
●Size - large things are very good as they eat up real-estate. Large cheap things are even better. I've got a Mek Workshop that at 80 points & multiple good size pieces does a fine job.
●Usefulness - look for units that can still contribute while sitting in the backfield.
I like Mek Gunz No need for my arty to be on the front likes....
(And since I can use Legends, I also tend to field Big Gunz)
My Mek Shop + Mek Gunz work nicely together as well.

Single cheap characters can also be of use.
Stick them wholly within 9" of a corner, preferably out of Los, & now your not only screening but in position for a variety of secondary objectives.
I've got a basic Painboy who's prevented who-knows-how-much pain by just hanging out in the backfield helping screen out deepstrikes.

Basically what CCS said. You want your backfield units to be cheap, take up a lot of room and useful. You don't want them to be too useful though, as they might draw unwanted attention and get splatted.

Mek Gunz are good for this, as are Lootas, Flash Gitz without trukks or Badrukk, and lone cheap characters like SAG Meks, Meks and weirdboys.

Lone weirdboys are great as they can then da jump out for secondaries and stuff like that once all the deep strikes are dealt with.

Depends on the terrain setup of your table but I personally use 3x Mek Guns and two squads of Lootas

Also depends on size of the game - I tend to run 1 squad of Gretchin in any basically list as they're good points filler then as it scales up I either do another squad and/or Weirdboy. Mek is okay at 45 points but iirc Burnas are 60 points for 5 models so you get a bit more coverage

I play Orks and write about Warhammer 40K stuff at iplay40k.com
