Soul Forge Studios - who make a lot of space ships with a very Grim Dark design ethos and which are ideal for space games, have decided that they will stop making such ships at the end of March.
Furthermore they are going to clean house and start on new designs for totally unique stuff by taking ALL of their current roster of models down from sale at the end of March.

https://www.myminifactory.com/users/SoulForgeStudio

This is a rather sudden choice they made this month and basically it seems to be sparked by them taking this from hobby to business and wanting to do their own thing and not have people constantly wanting/asking/pining for the old stuff and overshadowing what they are going to do. So basically if you want a chance at their fleets this is a last chance grab before its all gone at the end of this month.

A few notes

1) MMF accepts paypal - this means you can use Pay-In-Three if you qualify, so you can use that to spread the cost out if there's a lot you want. Just pick Paypal as the payment option and when you log into paypal to select a payment source, scroll down for their additional options.

2) They have 65% off for joining their Tribe or Patreon. If you join the Tribe on MMF the discount is automatically applied to your purchases in your cart. It will also show the adjusted price on the product page of the model (the store view will show full price). They are also giving people the next loyalty model they'd get, so if you sign up fresh today you'd get the 3 month loyalty when they process it, The Assault Pattern Combatbarge.
You'd also get access to a bunch of welcome pack elements which contain several unique ships (for Imperial and chaotic forces) that aren't sold outside of it; as well as all the Ordinance packs for each faction (so you'd not need to buy the ordinance). There's also a few other ships thrown in and such

Tribe https://www.myminifactory.com/users/SoulForgeStudio?show=tribe
Patreon https://www.patreon.com/soulforgestudio/posts

3) There's a special 75% off code for the entire Zombie Robots set of models.
Code: https://www.myminifactory.com/tribes/SoulForgeStudio/posts/Invasion_Zombie_Robots_Attack-36277
Zombie Robots collection: https://www.myminifactory.com/users/SoulForgeStudio/collection/zombie-space-robots

4) Their Collections tab in their profile on MMF groups up the ships pretty effectively for each faction/group of ships. Don't forget to check the free slot as there's a selection of unique ships in there.
https://www.myminifactory.com/users/SoulForgeStudio?show=collections

5) One of their Discord users made a spreadsheet that further helps you work out what is what in the multitude of ships: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uCVqEOEk8X4XxV6W_OL_X1AwoRUfKOovkMc3_fURpIw/edit

6) Be sure to join their discord once you're a Tribe/Patreon member. They've a host of fan created additional hulls/ships/prows and other parts that are free for all subscribers to access. You just message the admin once you're in to gain the user name and access if you're a triber/patreon backer

This is probably one of the largest sets of BGF style ships with a lot of modular options and swappable parts. There's a bunch of massive Gloria ships (huge things!) and several upgrade packs that let you create unique looking Imperial fleets with different chapter elements.

Wow. Do they not like money or something?
That is a huge collection of stuff to drop from sale. Makes me wonder if there is a legal letter sitting in the background.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Definitely a legal letter sitting in the background.

Otherwise they could just leave these sculpts as they are, generating passive income, an start a second brand alongside.

In their Discord they've said there's no legal letter - its what I thought as well - and there aren't any other rumblings of such letters in any of the other creators of Gothic style ships.

They've said basically they started as a hobby and it grew into a business and they recently decided that they wanted to start afresh with their own thing that's fully their own thing. The removal of all the BFG is mostly so that they don't get any "hey when are you going to do so and so" or "when can you start doing XYZ again" etc..

Basically they want a clean slate.

It might also be that they are also thinking in the background that not only do they want a clean slate, but they also don't want any potential that when they grow the new stuff; GW won't come knocking and cause issues further on. Which could happen - GW seems to treat IP fairly passive when they don't have models of their own out; but once they do they tend to shift gears and BFG is almost one of the last games they've not brought back with their recent waves of old stuff.

Im a little surprised they didn't just mothball the company to passive income and start a new firm; but perhaps they are hoping that rolling it over into something new entirely will mean that they can keep a lot of their current monthly subscribers (or at least more than if they fully started a new patreon and tribe and so forth).

A sad loss to the hobby.

While copying miniatures is illegal, there's no such thing as copyrighting a style. Star Wars does not own Angry Triangles, Star Trek cannot own Saucers with Nacelles, they can only claim specific itinerations of an idea.

Though it does make one wonder, if GW is being more aggressive with 20 year old BFG designs maybe something is cooking.

Thanks for the heads up. One more thing to note, if you're going for over $100 of ship STL's post discount then it's worth also subscribing to the MMF "The Adventure" subscription for the month - as it's $10/month, gives a further 10% off the shop and also comes with a bunch of STL's you may or may not find interesting. Makes for a further saving.

The spreadsheet was also super helpful to decide what to pick up.

I've not got a 3D printer nor any immediate plans for one, but i consider 7 factions worth of ships for like $140 all in as a present for future me.

Oh also another thing I found - make sure you join their discord (links on their tribe/patreon). If you're in Patreon it should give you a role, if you're in Tribes you have to message the admin - once in with the role there's a whole bundle of additional parts made by community members as well. There's a lot of various bits so its well worth grabbing .

An attention seeking reminder that Soulforge are shutting down ALL of their BFG ships for sale at the end of this month. DO NOT delay if you want to grab any of the models.

Remember to join their Tribe/Patreon for 65% off everything in their store (even if you join at their lowest tier) and to check out their Discord for additional bonus ships once you're a backer.

I picked up one model. Would be nice if they lowered the prices to "fire sale, everything must go" prices. If $100 could get me tons of models, I'd be all over this. But even with the membership discount, $100 isn't going to get as much as I'd want. So, instead, they got $12 from me for one model.

Ah damn it, I was going to grab some stuff but it looks like I've missed the boat and stuff is already being taken down.
