Subject: So, do mods just have free will to delete any post they want?

I have multiple posts in 40k General that have disappeared in the last couple hours. All posts followed all dakka posting guidelines. They were polite, on topic, and with correct punctuation and grammar. The only thing I think of is that it was "wrong think" to a set narrative.

If you're referring to your posts questioning the salaries of real world women in the Custodes thread, they were deleted as they were off topic. Which, honestly, should be fairly self evident.

It was re rebuttal to a quoted post talking about why real-world pay descrepencies justifies in-game female representation. It is, in fact, ON topic. Unless of course you believe that any talk of real-world issues is off topic, in which case both my reply AND the original quoted post should have been removed, right?

I dunno, the same thing has happened to me and I think the mods handling those threads definitely have too much skin in the game regarding the topic, so it's hard to see their choices in moderation as objective when it's clear they favour one side of the conversation over the other.

Guys, cut the mods a break. They have enough stuff to do without your accusations.

Conversations like this shouldn't be hindered. It's important for users to feel they can approach mods/staff with concerns about the management and moderation of the website without being ignored or rebutted "just because".
Sometimes chats like this are where mods can step back and reflect that perhaps some of their practice isn't working as well as intended; or it might identify new methods they can use to help manage the site which in turn results in a better site for all.

Why? It's not a democracy, it's a private website. If it doesn't happen to elevate some particularly backwards views then tough. There's plenty of websites that don't soapbox progressive views wither.
If anything the mods are too permissive.

As backwards as your pfp scarlet? You yourself here are a nice exemple of "repressive tolerance" aswell for that alone you should be subject to rule 1.

Because the focus of this private website is to create a community. If the staff don't listen to the community and if the community don't feel they can air their concerns then the community will go elsewhere.

I have to say both moderation and the feel of the community have gotten better here over recent years. I feel way more welcome when thinly-veiled bigotry is no longer tolerated.

Solidly agreed - especially when consequences for outright bigotry are visible and understood.
And, just to confirm, Crimson and I are talking about *actual* bigotry, not as a buzzword - users making outright transphobic remarks and statements, for example.

Ya, I've seen some comments made very recently. Like anyone who thinks X way loses their status as a person levels of rhetoric.

If you want to repeat what they said which prompted that response, see what happens.
Or are you defending what they said, and that it was any appropriate way to behave?

You know exactly what they meant by that comment, and for anyone who actually lived under communism you know there's a reason why so Germans many fled to surrender to the Allies rather than face capture by the Soviets. The aftermath of the Red Army pillaging/raping throughout Berlin is anything but pleasant for the Germans who were stuck there but I'm sure you'll say that's just war and say they deserved it because they were civilians under a Nazi regime.

The hammer and sickle lickspittle brigade gets far too little flack for their ideology. And for supposedly not allowing politics that is honestly just another exemple of biased enforcement of rules.

No. I just took a page out of some posters books calling everyone not in favour of this recent Change a bigot and pointing out via pfp of a Poster that it only goes one way in regards to rules enforcement.
Alas when i do it, it's hyperbole when others do it with the right mindset, naaaaaa nooooo not an issue at all.
