We played our first game of Old World, 1500 points, my warriors of Chaos facing Brets.

We had a really fun time, did pretty well with the rules, and set-up to packed up only took 3 hours for our debut match. that's not bad.

Impetuous gunner charged, fought and ran-down the nurgle doggos.

a well-moved placement and their failed charge allowed my Chaos Knights to slam into the Grails. Over two rounds of combat we eliminated them and the mounted Wizard. His general on griffin got revenge, however, into our rear arc.
Notice the Turnip 28 heads on his riders.

I'm almost not happy to admit how fun this game is. Going to be another hobby project on a crowded desk, but i want to keep playing it.

Have you played your first game of ToW? How long did it take, and what did you think?

I have played a few games already. Super fun, I run beastmen.

And surprisingly it didn't take a long time to play either .

Beautiful looking forces! I can't wait to see those classic knights painted up as gorgeously as those dogs.

I agree, TOW is an absolute blast. I've played a few games that have felt a little lopsided, generally against bad matchups or monster spam. But it's not too bad.

I've played three games of TOW now, and while I enjoy it, I think there is still room for improvement... by adding things that are from previous editions of WFB.

● Table Quarters should still count for Victory Points. This helps discourage sit back and shoot/magic your opponent to death, which is a dull experience.

● Combat Result should have the old +1 for outnumbering your opponent. Helps give swarm armies a better chance of winning with their crap troops.

● Hero allowance should be split into Hero and Lord, being able to have a Lord level character on a Dragon in 1,000pts is just silly.

● There should be no way to bounce Special choices into Troops. It just makes players take a big unit Special and a few chaff Troops to get to the minimum for Troops.

● Troops should also be a 50% minimum not 25%, this is meant to be a mass combat game after all.

● The main book only has 6 missions (the narrative ones don't really count) there should be at least 18 missions in a book this big!

The objective of the game is to win. The point of the game is to have fun. The two should never be confused.

Agree with most of what you said except core capped at 25% is good...you can represent a mass combat game with that restriction still especially since troops are in special and rare slots too.
