Hello.

The idea of playing a set of rules centered around skirmish-sized expeditions to dangerous lands by flying boats (skypunk, a steampunk derivative; usually has floating landmasses at its core that its inhabitants navigate by flying mechanical/magical ships or animals - typical examples are Skies of Arcadia and Last Exile) has always intrigued me, but I was usually stopped by the lack of proper models and rulesets that suit my liking. However, since Arcane Minis now have a series of flying magic boats, I decided to try and create a couple of playable forces and either try to find a suitable ruleset or write my own (much more likely), preferrably PvPvE-themed with local wildlife actively hunting the teams of explorers. For now, I have a single faction ready, divided into two small boats, with another one, this time flying a mighty barque, still work in progress. Can't wait to share my progress, so pictures below. Figures are 15 mm in size (big artifact robot is obviously bigger, roughly 28 mm in height)

However, I would like to warn anyone else interesed in Arcane's airships that their basing decision is very awkward, it's situated roughly 1/6 away from the model's stern. As a result, it either bends it and glides towards the table (like these two) or turns it into Г-shape, like barque's one did. I had to tear the pin off and rebase it under the barque's center of mass; I was hopeful that smaller skiffs would hold properly, but you can see on the pictures that they are also a bit bent, so I will probably rebase them as well.

Not to detract from you or anything, but I thought the title said "Bandai's attempts..." and got all excited for gunpla fantasy airships

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

And the opponents to my first airship duo are finished.

Now to actually writing the rules of engagement, finding an opponent willing to test it out and off to the clouds we go.

I've finished a pack of little critters ready to chew up on some unfortunate explorers. Now it's time to find out if anyone's around me as intrigued in the idea as I am.
