Combat Patrol is in part the reason I got into Warhammer a few weeks ago.
Friends from a local draw/craft club are playing and I figured I'd join in.

Perhaps I pulled the trigger on my CSMs a bit to soon, because now I learn a Combat Patrol is a fixed unit :/

Are 9th ed. Combat Patrols compatible with 10th ed.?
My friends all have 10th ed. set.

I got a 2nd hand lot of Chaos Space Marines, part of it is of the 9th edition Combat Patrol.
The Helbrute is missing however.

Considering the price of a new Helbrute is about half that of a new Combat Patrol I wonder what I should do now;
- Buy a Helbrute and complete the 9th ed. Combat patrol
- Invest a bit more in a 10th ed Combat Patrol

If 9th plays with 10th I recon the Helbrut is the more economical option.
If not I'll probably get a Sisters of battle Combat Patrol, that way I have two armies.
Choices, choices.

But the most important question now is can I play my 9th ed. Combat Patrol against my friends 10th ed. sets?

The 40k Downloads page has rules for some of the older Combat Patrols at the bottom - are you thinking of Combat Patrol: Chaos Space Marines – Dark Zealots?

Oh that page flew right past me.
I've searched for information on the Warhammer site but didn't land here.

That is indeed the Combat Patrol I have, save the Helbrute of course.

So if I understand correctly I can use this Dark Zealots Combat Patrol against current 10th ed. Sets.
Would be awesome as it get's me playing quicker
