What does the Vindicator Ammocrane actually do?
It doesn't seem like it can load the shell anywhere. Does it just carry around one extra shell? That seems like a lot of mechanical parts for +1 ammo capacity.
It's kind of driving me insane now that I started thinking about it.

(not my Vindicator btw, just grabbed this off google images)

I think that the idea was its a crane to help resupply the vehicle. Implying that the shells are heavy to lift without help.

It's like the crane on the back of the WW2 Sturmtiger.

That makes sense I suppose, although it looks like it only really can lift up and down and not swing to the side or telescope.

It’s a bit of a weird one anyway, as the thing is crewed by marines in power armour , which is probably more powerful than the crane

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Given it's a siege tank, maybe it's also a winch for clearing debris and wrecked vehicles? Not that practical but nothing in this game really is.
