Subject: Boarding Action vs Zone Mortalis Terrain

Hey all, does anyone have any experience or pictures comparing the Zone Mortalis terrain with the Boarding Action terrain?
I’m looking to buy one to be able to set up as either, and unsure on which terrain system to get to cover both birding actions rules and 30k Zone Mortalis. I’m tempted to go with the Zone Mortalis as it seems more versatile in the long run, with the ability to use it as a normal board and to go up as well, but I’m unsure if the wall size will be an issue for Boarding Action game set up.
Does anyone have any experience with the two or comparison pics?
Thanks

Firstly - unless it's changed with the new book, Boarding Action missions have pre-set board layouts so you need the 'correct' terrain.
I'll take some photos tonight, if no-one else does.
In my experience the Boarding Action terrain takes longer to set up and is more of a pain, and it's harder to come up with unique & interesting boards - but if you're playing the missions it's pre-set board layouts. Zone Mortalis can be a bit 'same-y', and you need to be clear on the height of things.

I have both, might be able to post some pictures tomorrow.
As beast_gts said, boarding actions have fixed terrain layouts, but they can be ignored. Taking them for inspiration and setting you own board is more fun anyway, in my opinion.
The real issue is the wall thickness. ZM walls are thick, leading to a smaller payable field. On the other hand, you can go 3D! The issue here is that boarding action rules aren't designed for several levels. You have to figure out which terrain passes as "higher floor" and which are solid walls were no longer of sight can be drawn.
Now playing in my group, we added rules for ladders, stairs, lifts and added a movement penalty for climbing walls. Then we used the ZM Terrain. But your really need a lot of terrain. I would recommend looking into third party MDF terrain if you want to cover a boarding action sized board.

Nicely put Brickfix. I'll nick some of the our ideas if you don't mind. Making your own scenarios are much more fun.
All of my playing group are long term d&d players and new ideas are always welcome. It's trying to control their imaginations that's the problem. I tend to panic during a game of one of them says what if......

So for Zone Mortalis it's Column, Door, Wall, Column, Wide Wall. The Boarding Action stuff is 2 Short Walls and 2 Walls. Let me know if you want any more photos.

Don't worry, I never mind someone using my ideas. If people are interested, I might post them in proposed rules...
