Time to vote!

This month the topic was: Beep Boop - Villains who are more machine than man, or your plastic pal who's fun to be with (unless he's feeling very depressed). Doesn't have to be bleeding-edge quantum computing in a body made from pure unobtainium, to our distant descendants on feral worlds clockwork and a steam engine could've been enough to turn a hunk of scrap into a metal beast. Robots, cyborgs, labour-saving devices or smart weapons. While the title is “Beep Boop” this extends to any non-biological lifeforms - genies, elementals, not-undead spirits, living goo, etc for those of a more fantasy bent.

As always, you're free to hand out as many votes as you like, and for any entry you feel deserves recognition, based on anything from technical proficiency or model choice, a neat conversion or a cool take on the theme, or anything else! You're also very welcome to leave some feedback here for the entrants, and many of the images click through to the Dakka gallery if you'd like to give out a vote or two there as well.

Voted for a few others, but pick of the month for me was Maharg’s Necron; I like the impact of that colour scheme and the glows on the weapon are top notch.

Struggling about in Asmos territory.

Ok here's the entries that stood out for me;

theCrowe - Bead Bot
It looks so silly that this must be voted on, perhaps it hacked my brain with soundwaves or something to do so, you can never be sure.

JoshInJapan - Sturm Käfer
This thing just looks epic to me, super slick and rounded like a praying mantis, or maybe a chevvy corvette 60s series, it massively stands out because of the well done weathering. Favorite entry of this month for me.

Geifer - Droids (mostly)
This shows that even when you (in this case me) don't like the models you can like the paintjob given to them, its like a classical painting, you can see the effort put into it.

Mr Nobody - XV88 Broadsides
When I saw these in the actual thread I already knew I wanted to give them a vote, love the warmth of the orange used against the desaturated blueish cloak. Also gud weathering.

Midget Gems - Ork Segways

I should've thought of this, if we could rank votes this would get 2nd place for me both out of the comedy factor and the result, your entries are like a where's waldo book to look at, something funny hidden in the challenge threads everytime. I would dread having to be posted at some votann base guard tower and seeing these segway orks come driving down the hills though.

CancelledApocalypse - Clade Vanus Infocyte
Another entry so well done, your photos actually made me retake a few photos for my own entry because its so crisp. I particularly like the brightness of the white, that's always so hard on fabrics like draping cloth skirts.

Fun month, thanks to this community always motivated to pew out some painting lasers.

inmygravenimage - Really nice splashes of OSL colour on the models cast from the lightsabers, I also really like the work on the metal parts vs the more matte armour, the contrast to the highlighting is very nice.
Daia T'Nara - Love me some eye-melting colour schemes from the 80s, and these are great! Nicely highlighted and nicely balanced, plus the dynamic pose is great. Wouldn't want to see that coming towards me on a battlefield...
theCrowe - I love this quirky model and how you constructed it. It has a nostalgia and a hint of decaying sadness to it that really chimes with me. It reminds me a lot of something Studio Ghibli might have come up with in the 70s/80s.
Captain Brown - The little tractor who could. Really fun little model, is it possible that John Deere survived into the 41st millennium and was acquired by the Mechanicus?
Syro_ - Gritty grimy Iron Hands who really feel like they've been through the wars and only just made it out the other side!
JoshInJapan - Super work on the chipping and weathering on this model. Never heard of the Sturm Kafer, but it makes me think of something out of Ghost in the Shell, so I really like it just for that fact!
Vejut - Gorgeous deep red on those mechs and a good choice of light blues and green-blues make the models stand out. Nice work!
KidCthulhu - I love the old ghost warrior minis and I love what you've done with this one. The colour choices are perfect, giving it a really striking look, and make me wish I'd done the same on the ghost warriors I painted a couple of years back.
youwashock - Hazard stripes on a chainsword? Gets my vote immediately! This duo of fighters are really nicely painted, I particularly like the purple plasma, blue armour, and (as already stated) that chainsword!
Geifer - One of my favourites this month, You've really done R2 and 3PO justice with that paint job! Love the gradiated highlighting on R2 and the muted, slightly battered gold on 3PO. The other figures are just a bonus!
XvArcanevX - Another of my favourites this month, a really crisply painted Tech Priest, with perfect colour choices. The best thing about this model has to be the swirling green chemicals in the cannisters on his back. Beautifully painted and very realistic looking.
Leopold Helveine - Nice to see an unusual colour scheme on a necron, this gives me a cold, futuristic, Terminator-style feel (barring the red Terminator eyes, of course). The cold blues are really effective against the chrome.
Mr Nobody - Tau aren't really my jam, but even so, I've always still liked the warm and rich orange they often wear. This pair of Broadsides captures that high tech orange, while at the same time capturing the feel that they've been left in storage just a little too long. Nice work!
Olthannon - I always enjoy your striking colour choices, it ensures that your models always stand out from the rest of the field and this month is no exception! Love the yellow/red combo, and the pink flora is really eyecatching.
halfling84 - That's a smexy cyborg you got there! Almost makes me want to start playing Cyberpunk... Overall, you've done a good job, nice colour choices (orange and white is a classic sci-fi combo and the purple is a good counterpoint), and I always love blood red hair.
Nevelon - And that's a smexy pair of teleport homers you got there, too! Which one's Beep and which one's Boop? You could make Boop boobytrapped in game to give your opponents a nice surprise!
Pariah Press - More nice mechs, with a fun, desert-sky colour scheme. Neat and tidy painting, good colours, with and eyecatching canopy. Not much not to like with this entry! I do wonder how they fit that huge mech into what is supposed to be a sleek, light-weight aircraft, though...
Llamahead - This is really fun! I love these kinds of bits-and-bobs modelling takes on the monthly themes and I can just imagine this drone buzzing lazily across the battlefield. Suitably muted colours and grimy appearance for an industrial piece of hardware, overall, really nice!
Maharg - The third of my favourites this month, a really crispy Necron with a fiery take on their gauss technology. The bone and dark chrome works really well together with the orange glow and everything is neat and tidy. Super work!
Gulgog TufToof - Love your super vibrant ork flesh and the nmm grey metals work really well alongside the tmm brass/golds. The conversion is really fun, and it has a distinctly steampunk feel with all those cogs and flywheels. I wonder if he's just been in a scrap with some Admech?
Midget Gems - Your entries are always a lot of fun and this one is no exception! Lovely work on the conversion, beautiful green skin tones, and I love the red and white team colours on the helmets/head. It's almost like they're a racing team. I'd absolutely be up for seeing another Ork racing game with custom segways!

Another great month from everyone, well done guys!

I'll echo that. I meant to comment again this month but I've had a terrible week or two and I'm still not braining well enough to form meaningful thoughts. But stuff was lots of fun to look at all around.

Note to self to make a rotation vid of the electrified necron because I think the photography makes it suffer and has people think its just a quick one layer with the lamp doing the lighting effects while the lighting effects are -painted- on. -_-

Oh thanks CanceledApoc. The flashy blue is the baselayer of one of those greenstuffworld special paints (psychotic something is its name) https://www.greenstuffworld.com/en/chameleon-acrylic-paints/682-chameleon-psychotic-illusions.html
That one, specially ordered for trying out new things, but the more turquiose and light blue are freehand lightning.
Also has some drybrushing of silver and dulled grey, some of the bolts (difficult to see in these photos sigh) are dulled gold with a yellow-greenish wash. The base I gave some more content made out of sprue-cuts.

And how about some winners?

We had a tie for 3rd, with 20 votes each.

First up is Captain Brown’s Ordo-609, the little tractor robot.

and also Geifer’s collections of Droids (mostly)

And as a reminder that not all robots are your friend, Maharg with a Necron and 23 votes takes silver

While I can’t be sure the number weren't tampered with by the Clade Vanus Infocyte (as they are known to do that) CancelledApocalypse takes the beep-booping win with 26 votes!

And my normal broken record message (faulty analog devices, lacking the purity of 0s and 1s) Amazing work everyone. Tons of great entries, and great progress from everyone. Grats to the winners and everyone who entered.

Well deserved, Geifer!

Thanks to everyone for the votes, I really loved painting this model, so I'm glad other people appreciated it.

And thanks to Nevelon as always for keeping this comp running smoothly!

Thank you! I wanted him to fit in with my existing handful of Ulthwe stuff, but the real inspiration was the 2E Eldar Dreadnought 'Eavy Metal paintjob.

Big thanks to everyone for voting for my sad wraith-boi. I wish I could have done better.

Huge accolades for all the winners. Competition was fierce and everyone brought out their A-game for the beep-boopers.
