Pioneers are one of the shiny new factions to join the Buffalo Soldiers featured in "The Good". So, what are they all about?

Thematically, they are a mix of new settlers and their hired guides heading for a new life in the West. The box contains 8 characters, typically representing a Trail Boss, 2 Grizzled Veterans, 2 Trail Hands and 3 Settlers.

The Trail Hands and Trail Boss are "normal" 2 Rep characters and the boss respectively. The Settlers are 1 Rep and the Veterans are 4 Rep. Interestingly, the Vets get options for two pistols or repeater and pistol; with +1 Shoot a mix of these weapon choices is a good plan. Settlers are 1 Rep and are a very fun option due to the cards.

Some characters have the Life in the Saddle trait and the Settlers may take wagons as their mount where permitted in the scene. A New Life is a nice trait as it allows you to draw two fresh cards when you play one in a turn.

The JQKA cards are major buff cards. The Queen (God decided to light this day with candles) promote one Settler or Trail Hand to a Grizzled Vet for the turn. The King (Fear is tragedy's closest cousin) buffs all Settler shooting for a turn. The Ace (If you are too weak, you will be eaten) again boosts Settler shooting. There is a condition with the King and Ace that means all Settler characters get an upgrade for the entire scene.

“The Good” features the Somewhere West Act with three scenes in the wilderness. Circle them wagons.
