Hello all

I am looking for some BASING MATERIAL. Like sand, but much finer grains.

Does anyone have a good suggestion? I have heard of people using baking soda saturated in superglue to get a super fine basing texture, but I'm not keen on those materials for army-scale basing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Cheers

The finest sand I ever used for basing was the colored sand you get in the craft store for doing sand art bottles. Cheap and insanely fine.

I glued it down on the base before I primed it (as mine was a lurid orange color). I ended up drybrushing it to make it the perfect asphalt.

I've heard some scale modelers use grout - the stuff you use to put in bathroom tiles. That's a very fine grain.

I use silver sand, sold in pet stores for aquariums and lining bird cages.

The finest I have seen was Sandbox Sand I bought at Home Depot (a US DIY store). $4 for a 20 lb bag or something like that, and it was very, very fine sand.
