I'm looking to get back into 40K after a long hiatus (the last edition I played was 8).

To catch up quickly with the game group I'm joining, both in terms of point score and painting, I've decided on starting a Custodes army.
Now, I haven't got the codex and rulebook yet, they're still in the mail, so I'm not exactly sure what all the units and wargear does and how it works, but I've tried to make a list and would like some feedback. What I'm looking for is a generalised army that can be competitive against most factions, but these will be friendly games, so I'm not looking for a tournament level list. I'm incredibly uncertain about the Warglaives, I'm going by models that are accessible to me through my local shops, but I'm very open to alternatives.

Anyway, here's what I've tentatively set up so far:

Blade Champion (warlord) 110

Custodian Guard with 4 models each 180
Custodian Guard with 4 models each 180

Allarus Custodians with 3 models 195

Vigilator squad with 4 models 50

2x Armigier Warglaives Imperial Knight allies 280

Total 995 points

You don't need the Warglaives, you are a close combat force already.

Also, all the forgeworld stuff is street legal for Custodes now.

Let's see... you could add some more sisters and their rhino to the mix so you can branch out a little more.

The last WC winner had a list that ran one... I'll see if I can't hunt it down.

Thanks for the input. Sadly, the grav tanks are out of reach for me, at least for now. They're too expensive, and they're sold out in every store I have access to anyway.

What would you add as anti vehicle/monstrous instead of the warglaives?

I like the idea of sisters of silence in rhinos, but I'm not really sure which version to take, vigilators or witchseekers.

Well, you know what you'll actually be playing against. Wich version best deals with that? Use that one.

You could also use the bikes for AT they are S7 with the lance abilety +1 to the wound roll,
so you would be hitting on a 2+ and wounding most vehicles on a 4+.
Its not great but you will have 15 attacks with those bikes.
