I'm running the Sons for this competitive season. Got 1 league game and an RTT under my belt using 4 Gatebreakers, and 1 practice match. So far 4-1. Trying to avoid using the Bottlesnatchaz Regiment of Renown, but that sure would provide some good objective and tactic nabbing, plus screens, a wizard, and free run-n-charge via the Rabble Rowza. But just feel like that's ....inappropriate.
What are other gargant players doing well, or doing poorly, with right now? Haven't tried Brodd yet.
Behemet player here as my main army. I don't want to run the Snatchaz RoR because I worry it will no longer be valid when their book comes out later. Wasted money, wasted hobby time you get the idea. I run Brodd, Gatebreaker, Kraken w/ Lantern and a warstomper. I'm not having much fun this edition. Half the time manifestations fail to cast due to getting shut down by magic armies, and the feel of 4th edition is, what, ok I guess? For some reason I had more fun in 3rd. I did have a good game against Blades of Khorne a few weeks ago and am still definitely going to play, attend events, etc. I just find the faction terrain / manifestations focus kind of unsatisfying.
Do you cast spells?

Oddly enough, I just finished listening to AoS Coach “Talkin’ Sons of Behemat” (see below)while painting up King Brodd and a Beast-Smasher. Currently have a Warstomper and a Kraken-Eater painted up. Its not optimal, but I’m gonna try a few 4 model games. Definitely gonna need 3-4 Mancrushers, it seems.
Wish I had made my Kraken-Eater a Gate-smasha instead. Kraken-eater is the weakest Mega at this point, it seems.
I found the discussion about their perspective with army composition interesting(21 minute mark) Coach runs Kragnos, which I think is a gamble because he’s shockingly soft.

I'll have to watch this later. I did not even ponder running Kraggie, and I have him painted. I tried him in 3rd and found the swing too swingy, if that makes. sense. And yes, Kraken is weaker which I why I give him the manifestation casting artfifact. I hang him back, let him sling debris and take late game objectives after attrition. but proxyng him as even a second Gatebreaker would probably be wiser.
What are you all hoping for with our book? I'd like faciton terrain, spells, and more flexibility.

Terrain and endless spells i think would be a given judging by the other releases. In terms of units, i'm not really sure. It's not easy like knights where you can just shove a different arm on and call it a unit.
Maybe some kind of small, serf type unit? Maybe with Brodd's ascension, some smaller race has come to idolise the mega's as some sort of deities, and they can be used as a disposable screen unit.

I built my Megas with combinations of parts for all three types. Just 3 cool looking giants....
So I solve the problem of "What's it supposed to be?" with interchangeable name plates on their bases.

Hoping/wishlisting that the Mancrusher Gargant gets a new sculpt and the current kit gets sent back to Old World to make use of the square base thats integrated into its sprue. The kit might be one of the oldest still in AoS.
A new Mancrusher that could make 3-4 unique unit options, like the Mega-gargant kit would be welcome.

I would love that. I don't like their current old giant sculpt for Old World's orc and goblin army. I'd literally buy 2-3 kits of new mancrushers to replace (most) of the current ones I'm using. Would be fun.
