So the new Sanctifier team is out (app and download etc.) so I took a look. One of the options for Missionaries is that they can have a Holy Relic. The relic’s rule is very simple; the Missionary is always affected by the Sermon.
OK, cool, they always benefit from reduced damage.

But then there’s the Confessor’s Lead the Procession rule. This allows you to make free moves for operatives benefiting from the Sermon as long as they move to a position where they would benefit from the Sermon.

My reading of this is that Missionaries with Relics can make free moves whenever the Confessor activates his ability regardless of range and the direction they move (because wherever they go, they always benefit from the Sermon).

Does anyone have a different view?

No, I don't know why anyone would, it's pretty unambiguous. There's no clause "for the purpose of ..." so it refers to any situation in which benefiting from Sermon applies.
