Is 'Eavy Metal Calling?

Affton, MO. USA

Hello Fellow Dakkites! It's been a while again since I was last here. Life/Work Blah Blah Blah.

Inspired again by the release of the 3rd edition of Horus Heresy, I feel the call of My Iron Warriors echoing.

I was not thrilled to see my favored Legion dressed in Mark II armor. However, this reminded me that I had files for Mark III armor sitting on one of my drives. So, my printer has been running pretty much non-stop this last week.

I also found a file for Perturabo that is pretty convincing to me. Unfortunately, it is monsterously sized. I reduced it down to 40% size for this picture.

Here he is accompanied by some Mark III bolter marines and an Iron Circle Domintar.

Also, for scale purposes, here is a printed Brass(Iron) Scorpion.

Started painting it up, but it is big.

Here is a Forgeworld Resin Mark III model for scale and a test of colors

I have printed out roughly 30 models so far in Mark III (THe most blessed of armors). Lots of Heavy weapons. Perturabo will have a full Iron Circle (which I believe is 8 Domitars if I remember correctly).

We will have lots of guns....LOTS of GUNS.

Most everything will be printed as I cannot afford GW prices and I have a printer and plenty of resin, sitting on 7KG of resin waiting to print now. One of the few non-resin parts of the army will be the bases, which will all be magnetized for transporting models to games that I will never play as I detest GW rules. The magnets however will be done in a new way that I have been doing on other models lately. Not using the expensive Neomydium (spelling) magnets, but sheet magnets.

These are available in the US at Home Depot, price tag included from a purchase on Saturday this week (August 16th,2025). The packs come with 3 sheets that are 8" x 15" and are a flexible sheet of magnet. You simply use superglue around the rim of the base and stick it to the white side of the sheet, use a hobby knife to trim the edges, and your good to go. Holds great, I have printed some large Brettonia Pegusus Knights from Lost Kingdom Miniatures and they hold the models with their scenic bases perfectly well.

This is totally a vanity army for me, one I want to build because I have always been a fan of Iron Warriors.

More later as I am old and it is bedtime.
