Next weekend my LGS is have a "swap meet" that's not really a swap meet. You bring painted or boxed units and negotiate a deal where the other person buys you new products from the LGS in exchange.

In July 2023 I got the Leviathan box and that Christmas I got the $230 Tyranid Onslaught Swarm box. Since then, I have entirely focused my (slow) efforts on my Ultramarines.

Should I trade the Tyranid box for the Salamanders combat patrol and Vulcan? I already have infernus and assault int squads and 6 Eradicators. That box essentially gives you those 2.5 squads for the price of 1.

I kind of think that I should focus on one army until I get decently good with them. But I also like the idea of playing the Tyranids eventually, probably not until 11th edition.

Is it common to play as a faction with most of your units painted the wrong color?

Multiple armies are cool. But also work.
"Wrong" color schemes aren't an issue unless you've got some jerk who makes it an issue. In my experience, the only care you're gonna see is someone going "Oh sweet, they look cool!" if they're painted well.

I would, if you're on the fence, keep the Nids. They're cool!

Since you plan to play the Tyranids eventually?
Keep them.
Because it'll just be more expensive to re-buy them later.
