So. I was by the Warhammer store today trying to figure out how many hours early I needed to be for their birthday thing tomorrow when I was informed about Tanksgiving.
You pick a Warhammer 40k vehicle you haven't built, show it to the store... then go home and assemble and paint it.
Then at the end of the month you go back and play a megabattle with your one vehicle.
And possibly win something.
Anyone here thinking of participating?
(I'm actively hunting the cheapest and easiest to paint vehicle - do you think they'd be pissed if I did a Cyclops Remote Detonation Vehicle?)

I think I’m signed up. I had a Gladiator Lancer in box, and another one primed waiting. So I built/primed the one still on sprue. So now I have 2 primed. I should try to get a brush to it at some point and start.

Have you played the megabattle before?
I'm trying to imagine how it works with each player having one model (and for the most part can't do actions).

My store is doing Beast Feast. We paint an AoS monster for Canadian Thanksgiving and a 40k Monster for the American Thanksgiving.
I plan to do both.
My AoS pledge is a 2nd ed Keeper of Secrets- I'll use it as a Daemon Prince in 40k because it's not big enough to be a modern Keeper, and I don't want to be the modelling-for-advantage TFG.
My 40k pledge will probably be a Talos.

I'd imagine that your going to be split into even teams, MIGHT use simple primary objectives (think of the single mission given in the main rulebook), & won't involve secondaries at all.

So what should I buy/build/paint?
A dreadnought? A Sentinel? Or a Cyclops Remote Demolition Vehicle?

My local store does something similar, but you don't actually have to buy or paint anything. It's usually a huge free-for-all where each player brings one vehicle. Titans are... common.
I'm currently the defending champion two years running.

We just have to show an unbuilt model at the beginning of the month... I just don't have any unbuilt models... unpainted, yes... unbuilt? No such luck.
So, what do you use to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their women?

Last year I used a Porphyrion. The year before was Unicron (counts-as Warlord Titan, since he's just about the right size).

I wonder how long it will last...
Not that I expect to exist past turn 1.
(The Warhammer store manager said he would definitely approve of me showing up to the store megabattle with a Cyclops Remote Demolition vehicle.)
The model comes in 3 pieces... hopefully it will be the easiest to assemble 40k model ever.

Hmmm... this model is becoming very difficult to find.
I've found tons of crappy knockoffs... argh... nothing that even looks close.

I wouldn't say hard to find. a quick Ebay search turned up a few right away. But the prices.... And then you'll deal with tarrifs + just plain uncertainty concerning delivery atm as they were all from outside the USA.
Have you seen this one though?
Otherwise this has got to be one of the easiest things to kit bash - just buy yourself a box of Legion Imperialis Leman Russ tanks, leave off the turret & get to work adding some sensor arrays/antenna.

Thanks, I missed that one. Most of the ones I found made me think it would be cheaper to have my credit card stolen.
I'm glad you found someone stateside. I ordered one in September... from Canada. I forgot Autumn was Canada's annual holiday called "Postal Workers go on Strike."
If this didn't work out, I was going to show up to the megabattle with a Drop Pod.

Oohh.... yeah... I forgot all about that. Crap.
I found out that last year one of the store employees brought a rhino. It's going to be hard to top that.

If you're allowed to kit bash stuff you could go with a Deathwind Drop Pod from Legends.
Buy new kit, build 1, add missle launchers/assault cannons.

Okay. I've given it some thought, and if I find a piece of terrain to hide in...
How about a single XV88 Broadside battlesuit?
It's not too expensive, and might be fun to build and paint...
But not in Tau colors.
I was thinking a Tau Mercenary.
Could that work?

Why not? I personally like broadside the most out of all Tau suits. And I think it's easy to hide him.

I've always thought the current Broadside would look good painted up as Shockwave from Transformers.

Hmmm... If I had the spending money for another army, a Decepticon Tau Battlesuit army would be fun.
I Think Shockwave would look better as a Ghostkeel. Automatically Appended Next Post: Tanksgiving Proxy Playtest
I believe that due to me being a single battlesuit deployed into ruins, that I will be safe from being targeted in the early game.
I am wrong.
On Turn 1, an enemy Baneblade. believes I will make an easy kill (you get points for damage/kills).
He is correct.
He scoots forward and then fires too many guns at me. I do not survive.
I'm now looking at a Ghostkeel and it's Lone Operative ability... just wish it was cheaper.
