I wanted to paint some infantry for battletech some time ago but eventually forgot about it. After nabbing Total Warfare for a great price of 25 at a convention, and properly flicking through the rulebook, I was inspired to paint some again. I searched for different manufacturers but none really appealed to me, so I figured I'd just use the IWM ones. They seem to have Kurita and Davion infantry, (and a Marian Hegemony sculpt) as well as Battle Armour and Elementals and what have you. Do they produce other faction infantry as well? Are you supposed to use one or both to represent all infantry, and if so which one is better suited for it?

The detail on the individual Conventional Infantry is not very high as they are VERY small. In my opinion, it doesn't really matter. Battletech isn't big on WYSIWYG as it is.

Here's a perspective shot comparing it to a CGL Locust from A Game of Armored Combat, a IWM Elemental, Roc Protomech, and Badger tank.


Front line has 3 of them (I can't remember which is which) on one base, 3 individuals with an APC to represent Mechanized Infantry, and a Track Bike for Motorized Infantry.

I put them on a 3/4" disc to make them easier to share a hex with a Mech, Vehicle, or Protomech. I was inspired by the size by the Protomechs having a similarly-sized base, and the Battleforce base that the Badger is on. And the disc technically isn't a problem for Infantry, as they don't have Facings for direction of attack or for getting hit.
