I was looking to buy some Scouts to fill in a gap in my list, when I noticed that a squad was over $80.

Why do they cost so much?

The excuse used is because it includes the token sheet used by the team in KT.

GW charges what they can get away with.

Cause Games Workshop is so nice they're trying to save you money.

After all, why spend 200 bucks on a Bambu A1 Mini or resin printer when you can get 5 models for 80? they're so generous

Its a 10 man squad.
+ the KT tokens!

Concerning printers.... At $80/10 figures, GW is actually making the case for getting a printer.

Because marine players should suffer...
Jokes aside, because it 10 man lots of bits and tokens.
Me also think about printer but I checked the stl and don't like how models looks tbh. They are fine, but something always wrong. Like there is difference when pro team working over models and some enthusiasts.
Also don't forget, good resin cost ain't small as well as filament + electricity bill going to grow.

I'm going to be honest, My bambu A1 mini gets near resin quality minis and it's already paid for itself after printing two models. There are enough good models and proxies for non-space marine armies online that you can comfortably play with so much.

If cost of obtaining equivalent quality models is the only metric, then 3D printing started beating GW prices a long time ago.

Main problem is GW minis are truly great. The new one which released after 7th all beautiful. And 3rd party always an attempt to recreate GW's.

Please tell me more. I have an A1 Mini myself and it's been... not great at printing miniatures. GREAT for terrain, though.

You need a .2 nozzle and a lot of tinkering around

Others have pointed it out but the reasons are:

1. It is a newer kit. Newer kits are more expensive than older ones.
2. It is a Kill Team Kit. Kill Team kits cost more due to the included token sheets.

The cost of the kit will actually go down when they change it from a Kill Team kit to a 40K Kit, losing the token sheets.

This, but mostly because they know folks will pay it. The cost won't go down much when they make it a regular kit because GW is -as we all know- always raising their prices.

Don't feel bad if the kit you want is extra expensive. Pretty soon everyone's kits will be that price.

Kill Team kits also tend to be more expensive because they have a lot more gear options compared to other new era kits. You pay per sprue and there's usually at least 1 extra.

Empirical evidence suggests that GW's prices have almost nothing to do with how much plastic is actually in the kit.

There you go with that logic and reason again.
