From FB:

When we set out to relaunch Konflikt ‘47, our ambition was for all five of the main factions to have starter armies to help people build collections and get playing quickly. We planned for all of these to include plastic infantry and walkers, but realised that we’d only be able to do that for the Axis and US armies at launch. At the Open Day in September we announced that in the interim we’d be producing the Soviet Bloc, British Commonwealth, and Empire of Japan starter armies in traditional or Warlord resin, and these are the armies we put on pre-order recently.

The challenges of adapting the original designs to these materials are immense, and the efforts of our production teams have been truly heroic. While they have managed to produce the British Commonwealth and Empire of Japan armies, there are a handful of components of the Soviet Bloc army that are simply not possible to manufacture in quantity in either type of resin. When our team, who are the best in the world at what they do, tell us something is impossible, we know that it really cannot be done.

With regret we’ve had to conclude that we’ll have to remove this product from sale and plan a replacement. This is a difficult decision but we believe it’s the responsible one. However, a number of mail order customers have already preordered this set and we are offering those people the option of either a full refund, or the option of receiving a complete starter army with some of the components made from 3D printed resin. The quality will not be compromised but currently this is not an option for large-scale manufacturing, so this offer will be limited to existing preorders.

If you have pre-ordered the Konflikt ‘47 Soviet Bloc Starter Army from us directly, and would like to receive the product with the 3D printed components, you do not have to take any action. We’ll be producing and shipping them as fast as we possibly can, given the constraints of our printing capacity and the Christmas period. 3D printed resin is not a standard method of production for us, and we consider that it is suitable for more advanced modellers as, like metal or resin, it requires superglue for assembly and may require additional cleanup before assembly and painting.

If you would instead like to receive a full refund, please contact our Customer Service team at info@warlordgames.com, quoting your order number. They will be happy to process your refund as quickly as possible, but please be aware that, at this incredibly busy time of year, it may take a couple of days for them to reach your message.

Our plan is to produce a stream of plastic kits from early 2026 onwards, and we’ll make sure the miniatures from the starter armies are near the front of the queue. We’ve been blown away by the response of the community to Konflikt ‘47 - the passion and creativity on display has been truly humbling. We know we have let you down, we apologise, and please rest assured that we’ll redouble our efforts to bring you the amazing miniatures and games you deserve.

There's already been some moaning that Warlord resin is very close to GW Finecast, but I've had no issues with my British Starter (I'm more upset about MDF bases!).

Well that all sounds a bit bungled.

At least I'm in no danger of receiving a 3d print instead of "finecast", because why would I order "finecast" if HIPS is on the horizon

I have trouble seeing what about the Soviet models makes resin casting impossible.
Unless they are trying to single piece cast the bearmen or something.

As a customer, I'd be worried about trapped liquid resin in 3d prints as well.

Yeah - the bears might be one piece as they're not reusing the bodies between the units, and gun barrels on the Moroz Gul are thin but no worse than some of the other starters.

Spoiler:

The Soviet Bloc Starter Army contains the following miniatures:

1 Soviet Bloc Platoon Commander (Warlord Resin; exclusive to this set)
3 Ursus Infantry (Warlord Resin)
3 Ursus Infantry with Mauls (Warlord Resin)
5 Moroz Gul (Warlord Resin)
1 DM-40 ‘Molot’ Medium Walker (Resin/Warlord Resin)
1 T-34/ZP Medium Tank (Plastic with Resin/Warlord Resin components)
6 Konflikt ’47 red Order Dice
6 Konflikt ’47 red Rift Dice
Waterslide transfer sheet

EDIT: I wonder if it's the thickness / mass of the bear bodies, as they look like the largest Warlord Resin models they do.

It is interesting (and positive) that they stated "Our plan is to produce a stream of plastic kits from early 2026 onwards".

I wonder how much in the current Starter Boxes will be redone in plastic?

I'd like to see the British, Japanese and Russian Starters all done in plastic.

It's a shame, the Soviet box was my favorite of the bunch. Hopefully if the problem is just the Ursus they will release the walker and Moroz Gul separately...since those are nice sculpts on their own.

They need to be careful that this game doesn't lose momentum though, they still have yet to announce any new plastics to release in the next few months.
