If at any point your Crusade force finds itself without a tomb world to awaken you may begin awakening a new one. Begin awakening a tomb world determining the order in which you wish to awaken the protocols of a tomb world's master program. You may stop awakening a tomb world after 6 or more games. You will have one chance to awaken each protocol in the tomb world in the order which you determined when you began awakening the new tomb world.
Protocol of the Eternal Guardian
AWAKENING AGENDA: Command Canoptek Constructs - Ensure no enemy units are outside your opponent's deployment zone at the end of the game.
PROTOCOL BONUS: Canoptek Harvest - Increase the OC of one CANOPTEK unit from your Crusade army by 1 at the start of each battle until the end of the battle.
Protocol of the Sudden Storm
AWAKENING AGENDA: Reactivate Gates of Infinity - Roll a 6 for an advance roll or 10+ for a charge roll twice in the battle. In a Strike Force battle you need to make at least 4 such rolls.
PROTOCOL BONUS: Greater Hyperphase Core - Once per game you can use the RAPID INGRESS Stratagem for 0 CP.
Protocol of the Vengeful Stars
AWAKENING AGENDA: Align Stellar Charts - Control the centre of the battlefield at the end of the battle by having at least one unit wholly within 6" of the centre and no enemy units within 6" of the centre.
PROTOCOL BONUS: Pylon Defense Grid- Enemy units cannot be set up from reserves inside your deployment zone on the first 2 battle rounds.
Protocol of the Hungry Void
AWAKENING AGENDA: Energize Tesla Network - Complete action within all 4 table quarters.
PROTOCOL BONUS: Entropic Strike - Lethal Hits with melee attacks made against enemy units within 3" of the battlefield edge.
Protocol of the Undying Legions
AWAKENING AGENDA: Manage Viral Infections - Lose at least one DESTROYER or FLAYED ONE unit or destroy all enemy units at the end of the battle.
PROTOCOL BONUS: Quarantine Subroutines - Once per battle, after an enemy unit has caused a unit from your Crusade army to go below its Starting Strength, remove one model from that unit for the rest of the game, it cannot be returned in any way, that unit can then use its Reanimation Protocols ability.
Protocol of the Conquering Tyrant
AWAKENING AGENDA: Assume Nodal Command - Your Warlord must survive and cannot be battleshocked.
PROTOCOL BONUS: Phaeron's Will - Once per battle round, you can target a NECRONS CHARACTER unit from your army with the INSANE BRAVERY Stratagem for 0CP and can do so even if you have already targeted a different unit with that Stratagem this battle.
Once you stop awakening a tomb world you can collect prizes based on how many protocols you managed to activate.
0-1 Tomb World lost: No effect.
2+ Tomb Awakened: Increase your Crusade forces Supply Limit by 100 points.
4+ Core World Awakened: Your Crusade force gains 1RP.
6 Crownworld Awakened: Your Warlord's OC is increased to 10.
This is a replacement for the current Awakening A Tomb World rules which feel odd to me in a sort of turn it off and turn it back on again, seems more like a joke than relevant or fluffy and the rules were very Warlord centric, making sense for some lists but not for a lot of others and also sometimes very generic. Goals are meaningful player agency, exciting to use, not too confusing or strong, adherent to the mechanical and plotting fluff of the Necrons. I saved agendas for last because I think they are difficult, I am not really expecting them to be better than GW's.
