Tapping the Glass at the Herpetarium

As I get ready to buy a bunch of bits, I need a couple questions answered. And I thought, "Hey I know a bunch of smart people online who might know some things."

And here I am.

1. If you are converting Vulkan He'stan to be a special guest star in my Green Templar army.

I was wondering how much Salamanders iconography I should remove and replace with the Templar Cross Iconography from my Chapter?

Should I just do a single shoulderpad and maybe add some trinkets? Or should I swap more?

2. Are there any Swords (without hands attached) that will fit in the skeleton that's on the banner to the Bladeguard Veteran Ancient?

3. Will 30k helmets and Shoulders pads fit on Primaris Marines?

4. Is it better to slap decals on Infernus Marines or chop off all their shoulderpads for the raised pads of your chapter?

4a. Does it look okay if some Marines have decal shoulder pads and others have the raised plastic emblems on theirs?

"Vulkan: I do not understand the question."

Looking at the Vulcan He’stan model the 2 big spots are the flaming back topper and the belt. The other dragons are more generic, and the the Salamander’s. The belt is small, and probably not worth scrubbing. The backpack is easy. As he does not have exposed shoulderpads for chapter markings, I might put something up there. Or just lean into it. He’s the Green Dragon Knight, slayer of wyrms, do-er of great heroic deads.

One problem with marine swords is they tend to be real chonky. Might look out of place. You looking for a naked or sheathed blade? How are you going to mount it? If you want his hands to be over the hilt, you can probably just use any sword and cut hand off below the crossguard, Maybe mount the pomell at the top of the hand. I know the BGV kit comes with a number of unhanded hilts that you can use. Just add any blade you’d like. Should be a number of combat knives out there you could also poach hilts from.

Alternatively, many chainswords would be easy to de-hand and place over the skeletal hand.

30k stuff should be mostly compatible at last check.

Raised pads are nice when you have them, but are not required, and mix pretty seemlessly into an army. I’d no bother removing pads just to put a sculpted one on. I’ve done it a few times for Deathwatch, who’s pads are a bit more then just a decal.
