Land of Confusion

This is a terrible rant, I apologize in advance!

Ever had a great idea for a custom chapter or army, and then start painting them and been hit with the reality that they look awfully close to another army, that everyone seems to think you are building a variant of that army?

According to others I am painting:

Raptors, Mantis Warriors, HALO Spartans, Dark Angels, Sons of Medusa or Death Guard.

I'm using Templar iconography on my Marines, and have a new favorite pain, where I explain why I have a Librarian with a Maltese Cross on his shoulderpad. And then get told, "You know you can't do that."

To which I reply, "Yes, I can, this is a custom chapter."

And then I get Wikipedia's mentally deficient cousin in human form, trying to tell me how the game works until I mentally break all my Buddhist vows and secretly wish I could Force Lightning melon-fethers like the Emperor.

I am contemplating painting my Tor Garadon model up in Master Chief ( from Halo 1) Green, Slapping a 3d printed helmet on him, sticking a melta gun on his power fist and a Spear in his and calling him Vulkan He'stan. Just si I can piss off everyone as I convert one character into another character and paint him to look like a character from a different scifi game ...

Anyone have a drink? I think I need one...

"Vulkan: There will be no Rad or Phosphex in my legion. We shall fight wars humanely. Some things should be left in the dark age."
"Ferrus: Oh cool, when are you going to stop burning people to death?"
"Vulkan: I do not understand the question."
