Hey Guys,

Working on a Scythes of the Emperor force for this years armies on parade and I figure what better way to keep myself honest and on track than a blog covering the work!
Unsure how big the force will be at this stage but aiming for somewhere between 30-40 models total with a scenic base for it all!

So far I've completed my sword brethren:

Still working on a Brutalis Dreadnought, Company Heroes, Intercessors and Scouts!

Great job on the models, the blending on the tabards is lovely. It’s a good start to your army.

Do you have an idea for the display board yet or a theme for it all?

Thanks!

Yeah I'm planning to have it as a return to Sotha.
So a dead world with some evidence of Tyranids (bio pools etc), and the back half will be a bit of a cliff face with doors to a bunker.
The plan is to have all the Scythes at the front, but if you go behind the display and look, there are some Genestealer Cults/Tyranids hiding in the bunker ready to ambush.

Finally got around to sorting the transfers on the Brutalis.
Didn't enjoy assembling this one but happy with the result.
Now back to foot sloggers!

You're off to a really nice start with these Scythes - what's next on the to-do list?

This is, emphatically, why I will continue suggesting nuking Guard and starting over again. It's a legacy army that needs to be rebooted with a new focal point.

Thanks!
I've got the heroes of the chapter about 70% finished, then it's onto intercessors and scouts.
Following that a converted terminator chaplain and then maybe some jump pack intercessors, I think the yellow jump packs will be a bunch of fun and will stand out nicely.

Had a bit of time this morning to work on a character to be a bit of a centerpiece:

I wasn't a huge fan of the GW terminator chaplain so I mashed it together with the captain from Leviathan and wanted something that looked a little more intimidating.
Pretty happy with how it turned out!

This is all really impressive, love the attention to detail highlight each chip in the armour. Makes for a look that is both weathered and very clean, perfect for this scheme. The yellow is lush too.

Termie chaplain looks bad ass too. Bravo.

The Emperor's Scythes were once a great Space Marine Chapter but they suffered a terrible defeat at the hands of the scary aliens known only as the Tyranids.
