I've been meaning to mash the Rough Riders kit with Atalan Jackals because I hate having dudes on horses right next to my tanks, but I quickly realized that I also dislike the rest of the Rough Riders kit, with their Mongol theming and fur hats and so on. I know they're supposed to be off-world auxiliaries, but I prefer my army to look cohesive. However, if I use Atalan Jackal bikes, legs and torsoes and then put Cadian heads on them, all that would be left of the Rough Riders kit is the grenade lances... and is that
truly worth buying the entire kit, most of which would end up almost completely unbuildable as anything else?
But I also play Sisters of Battle, and now I have another idea. I could buy some Celestian Sacresants and give their maces to the bikers. This presents two advantages. Firstly, I can still build a squad of Celestian Sacresants, all armed with the halberds. I don't think they're considered good these days, but at least I won't be left with a mound of spare bits adding up to 90% of 5 models, and there's a chance Sacresants will get better in a future edition. Secondly, the biker models will be a lot less spindly and breakable than if they had lances.
I realize these models likely won't be tournament-legal, but I mostly play casual. I'm just curious if there are things I should know about before I commit to this project by buying anything. As far as I can tell, the handedness of the maces seems to be the main challenge: all are held in the right hand, while Jackals are holding their weapons with either their right or left hand, depending on the model. It might be necessary to cut the mace bit at the level of the handle rather than the wrist, or to have models that are not holding the handlebar of their bike.

If I go ahead, I'll post some progress pics and commentary.
