Today he announced that he hopes for Firefly to return if it can find a home

It will be an animated series voiced by the original cast. (Apart from Ron Glass, may he rest in peace.) It takes place after the original series.

Joss Whedon has given his blessing.

They have two show runners (who apparently met while working on Firefly) Marc Guggenheim and Tara Butters.

They have a script.

They have been given the rights permissions by Fox/Disney.

What they don't yet have is a 'home' for the show.

Nathan needs to pitch that to interested parties.

I'm hopeful but hesistant. For me, Firefly was almost perfect but that might be because it didn't live long enough to go wrong. Plus today say Hulu decide not to go forward with the Buffy reboot.

Now it can be revealed: “Firefly” is indeed coming back, sorta. Star Nathan Fillion, who had been teasing some sort of revival of the cult hit series — which lasted less than one season, and then returned as a movie — will be an animated show currently in very early stages of development, Variety has confirmed.

Given that Firefly is the reason I own a cowboy hat, I am beyond excited.

Animated series gets around the issue of the actors all being a lot older.

I really hope they nail it, would be fantastic to see Firefly return and also fill in all the story that got left out! Heck I hope it does so well it keeps going for a few seasons!
