With the drafts for Dark Elves and Skaven now out I was surprised to see no discussions on these. Excited to try the Skaven draft in the near future.

I'm completely on board with this project, over the tepid half baked and unloved (by management mandate, not the writers I'm sure) official lists.

My group uses the Renegades pack for the Legacy faction, but not all events in my region allow it. I took Dark Elves to one tourney where the Renegades Pack was allowed, but another did not.

I absolutely appreciate the work that Val has done with the project. I am hoping that it prods GW to take them more seriously!

The initial Renegades Pack for the Dark Elves used quite a light touch. The proposal last week, though, has many more changes. I really like adding Countercharge to Cold One Knights, and the changes to Witches makes them playable. I used the new pack in a game last week and it was fun.

I haven't digested the changes to Skaven, but the Skaven player in our group and I were talking last night and he thinks they are good changes.

Amazing work from Val. And free!! and yet people complain.

Honestly i do play skaven and i feel most of the changes are beneficial for us. I think death globes and the brass orb may have been nerfed a bit and in some respects the doom wheel is just different but most of the changes are welcome. I feel like the changes to globadiers were massively needed. I understand flails and frenzy have been updated and censer bearer got some hitting power back but at the same time the flails were weakened with new updated rules (only gets the strength bonus on the charge as does frenzy with attacks) so i still don't think i'll take them. It's just too slow in a game where fast movement with swiftstride or flying is everything. I'd also like some warlord options for mounts back but to be fair GW never really gave them to us to start with :(.

My local gaming group uses the Renegade packs, although we’ll almost certainly hold off on using the playtest versions for our current escalation league. But hoping that by the game we move to the next round of TOW for our bi-weekly games, we’ll adopt the latest from Square Based.

As a die-hard Skaven player from literally day one, I’m sure it’s no surprise that I’m pro-Renegades, but I continue to be quite happy with how well Val et al have been handling things. Obviously, I’d prefer that GW just flat-out supported the Legacy factions but Square Based’s efforts have been a worthy alternative.

As for the specifics, happy the Dregs are back. And understand the reason for the name change. Would still love to see palanquin and Rat Ogre mount options. Plus, of course, the Verminlord. But also get that might be a step too far.

As a long time DARK ELVF player I think the new renagades is looking cool. think everything so far is a step in the right direction.

My only complaint is something they can't do any thing about.

Long spears.... Should be the default for thrusting spears but gak. wish Val had changed a few units to be able to use them,

And sisters of slaghter still need there own identity and not just better witch elves.

I'm just being kind of single minded about this but I feel like high elves need a renegade legacy list too. I think they should have unicorns and pegasus and treemen back in their army list. Units like handmaidens of the everqueen (the unit not the character, i'm not sure how sisters of averlorn compare)
and other things that are remeniscent of 4e-5e with units feeling special (with less of the herohammer)

All the elves would seem to need Renegades if I’m honest. As some have noted, JTY seems to hate the pointy eared folk.

Heck, there’s a case to be made about fixing issues with the core rules that GW seems determined to ignore….

But Val et al have been very clear. They’re looking to “fix” the non-functional Legacy .pdfs, but they’re not touching anything directly related to the core game. That’s outside the remit SB have given themselves.

yeah that's fair, I have pdf/document experience, I might make my own renegade high elf realms list after i'm done with the 3rd ed battle bible heh.
