So i have flirted with the idea of HH before but i have decided to actually go through with it now

Have decided on Iron Hands - just as a first model i have ordered Shadrak Meduson and planning on painting them using the Vallejo Obsidian Black metallics - has anyone done similar and if so got any pics?

I did order the Obsidian Black line with that in mind, yes. Haven't done anything with it yet.

I am not familiar with the paint, but I will give some general 30k advice to not start with the fancy character.

It can take a bit to figure out the best way to do your scheme, and it's better to make that learning journey on the canvas of some no-name Tactical Squad goons rather than a cool character everyone's eyes will be drawn to.

Just my view on it of course. But this is why my Primarch is the last thing that's getting painted rather than the first.

Got the paints through today - going to try to do some painting in the next day or so
