Random thought in my mind, but as my wargaming career progressed, I gradually more and more swapped armies with my buddies for giggles or a change, lent them to friends that play but can't afford an army, and made up army lists or even armies just assembled from stuff taken in different collections.

How many of you love this too?

Yes, nothing like a bit of variety to spice things up.

When I was a teenager my group didn’t really do this though. We wouldn’t swap armies, I guess we were more attached to our own armies and playing against rather than with our friends’ armies.

In my WFB days (6-7th edition) the Match-Rematch tournaments (playing two games against same opponent, switching armies in the second one) were among my favourites. They really humbled powergamers and showed who has the real mastery of the game, not just a broken list.

Now that was a great idea really!

I remember once we Didi it, sort of, way way back as we started. My bud was astonished that he suddenly started losing way more to my OG so we switched to check and I played his chaos army, and won. That was an exception at the time though.

Way later it also happened that we played with my brothers 2 armies (orks and chaos) a few times so I took one of his.
