Subject: Trying To get An 11th Ed Box Question

Hey all,
So this Saturday will be the first time I try my hand at waiting in line at my local GW store for an 11th Ed Release box set. I called the store and they really didnt give me much info but I'm thinking I should get there an hour before open to try and get my shot at actually getting a confirmed preorder.
Anyone have any tips or info who have done this before? Is an hour prior to open on new edition release enough time? With previous editions did they sell out super quick? If a line is over a certain amount of people what is a good reference to say screw it and not waste my time waiting.
Only thing my store said was that GW said there are "Plenty of boxes being allocated." but knowing GW I dont want to rely on that.
Any tips?

I've no idea about GW store allocations.
But having worked in big retail for decades, my advice for standing in a line outside a store is this:
If you are seriously worried about getting something? Get there as soon as you can. Even if that strikes you as excessively early. One hour is not excessively early in my xp (Ex; we opened at 9am. Depending upon what was being released/what the Christmas, Easter, etc add hype was? We'd have people lined up outside our doors at 6am).
Bring your coffee.
The worst that'll happen is that you'll be there way early, get your order in, & then off to breakfast....
Good luck.

While GW has a history of under producing box sets I have found that they do have a history of correctly, if not slightly over, producing their launch boxes, I don't know how busy your store is but I feel that they should be able to handle the amount of pre orders they get but I you want to get there early an hour should be fine.

Orkbital, you do know it's only pre-order day on Saturday, not the actual release day, right?

I think the only 40K launch set that had stock issues was Indomitus and that was mostly a duel strike of covid lockdowns hampering GW production AND GW getting a massive increase in sales because of the lockdowns and a lot of people getting back into their gaming hobby - plus in the run up a lot of GW stock had been stripped from every shelf in the nation so even more model demand.
And GW resolved it by doing a second print run.
So chances are you should be fine. Though yes do keep in mind its a pre-order day not a release day so there won't be any stock. You'll just go in, make your preorder and done. Being early helps of course, but this is one set that should be reasonably safe stock wise.
