People who actually play space wolves should step in and correct me, but I get the impression that (for now) SW kind of have to decide how wolfy they want to commit to being.

You get access to detachments that *only* benefit your SW-exclusive units (ex: Wolf Termies), but fielding SW-exclusive units means your oath of moment gets downgraded to not give you that tasty +1 to-wound.

So my instinct is to either go all-in on SW-exclusive units to get the most bang for your buck on the detachments (probably still including some generic units for fire support)

OR to avoid SW-exclusive units entirely in order to basically just play vanilla marines and benefit from the better Oath of Moment (and possibly better detachments?)

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

Space Wolves also have some extremely restrictive Leader shenanigans going on, so factor that in too.
