So, I did my Tyrant yellow and black (he's on a thread here), but didn't want the whole army to look exactly the same, so I decided on brighter colors for all my major pieces, and I'll do muted versions for my broods. I also wanted varied schemes, but still coherent if possible.  I simply didn't want a sea of yellow and black on the table.

I decided on orange and black for the Brood Lord, and he's almost done, forgive the shine (I dip) since I didn't Matt coat yet, the shine is unfortunately covering up my highlights and blends

I'm posting now cuz I'm wondering is this going to look really weird when I'm done?  I'm thinking dark green and black for the biovores, red and black for the Fexes, and maybe dark purple and blacj=k for zoanthropes

The army will be tied together with the blacks, bone for all the "fleshy" parts and bones, and unified bases...so will this work?? (before I really start painting a lot).  Thanks for any input, the wife thinks I'm insane and the kids think anything looks great, so I rely on forums for real feedback!

i like it, but it might be a bit too "It's the Great Hivefleet, Charlie Brown" to me

The bone sections are well placed though, i like where you did them. I think the other colors might do better than the orange, it's just not hitting me well

Golden Demon standard?? I can barely paint Great Unclean One standard!

 forgive the shine (I dip)

I'm sorry, but that's the funniest thing I've read all day.

Oh and I think the color scheme is fine.  And Glossy doesn't look so bad on 'nids.  It evokes a certain amount of "Alien" with their glossy drippy look.

nah, having the army painted a whole load of different colours with only black to unify them (which it won't imo) is not a good idea.

Reminds me of the first incarnation of Lobo. When he was dressed in orange and purple. Not the way I would paint my Nids.

you know...not matter how nicelly you paint, nothing can ever give justice to the Broodlord model.
But your orange should be a little darker.Since you dip it,it should come out very nice.
Keep it like it is,its cool

I'd go for the same shade of yellow and black throughout the whole army, for visual unity, and have some variety on the non-armoured 'skin' instead

I unfortunately have to agree.  The model looks well painted but three primary colors is too much.  Having a mess of them in your army won't bring it together.

I might suggest having the big models be yellow and black while the smaller guys have black shells and bone colored chitin or something like that.
